Rear Coil Overs

    I have found a set coil overs for the rear of my Model A coupe build but there is no springs with the shocks what weight spring do I need for the shocks. Thanks

    That depends on a lot of things; vehicle weight, angle of mounting... I have seen 200# springs used for a Model A application, but I didn't drive the car, so can't comment on the ride. The further they're leaned in, the higher the weight spring is needed.

    200 is a good starting point. I had them on my '32. It was a decent compromise and only bottomed out on the worst potholes.

    depending on how much junk is in your trunk...i've got 200# springs on the short qa1'a....the springs are 8" tall and 200 is the lightest spring offered...thinking of going to a 150# 10" spring since my adjuster rings are up pretty high....but my a is pretty light in the back....brandon
     
  5. weight the rear call the shock company tech line and get their advice it worked for me.

    i have a fenderless '30 A sedan with a gas tank in the rear but no rear seat. I had 200# 12" springs and they didn't move one bit over bumps. switched out to 120# springs and the ride is 100 times better. i could've even went a little lighter. my shocks are only mounted on a 20 degree angle though.

    One other questions the guy has three or four different shocks as far as lenght I have not made the shock mounts for the ch***is yet and suggestions on the lenght too. Thanks
