Anybody else out there been hosed by the Garage magazine / Paypal subscription scam? I paid for a 1 year subscription in April thru Paypal, and I never have received anything, they have no record of it (I DO!!!) and nobody seems to want to do anything to make it right...
These people are NOT what I would call stand up guys by any means! But I learned my lesson...

You've done no intro and your only two posts are related to you feeling like you got ripped off. Why don't you delete the first thread you started since it's a duplicate and do an intro as well. Did you search around for any other Garage magazine posts? Did you PM anyone related to the magazine on here? Do you even KNOW who is associated with the magazine here? If you don't you haven't read anything else.

In the mean time... someone pass the popcorn.

Not at all. This comes up every month and all the people associated with the magazine are on here including JJ himself.

    Is it Tech Week yet?

There must be some kind of an association in the subscriptions industry that acts as a watchdog. You guys need to do the research and file complaints there. Blacklist them. Send letters to their advertisers. Report this to Paypal. Get madder and more creative. That's an out and out scam.

    I don't think it's a scam. I think it's a slow moving process.

Amen! What Tom said... I'm guessing it's more than likely a miscommunication vs. an all out act of fraud, which is what is being implied here. I'm also guessing that there will be nothing constructive that will come out of ANOTHER Garage Magazine thread "ruined my day" thread. There are other ways to handle it.

Is there a magazine forum somewhere?

ya know... I've kept out of these threads... but

    1. who cares how many posts someone has before they complain about not getting goods they paid for?

    2. I've met Stoner and he is a good guy, BUT that doesnt change the fact that people pay for product and get nothing.

    3. Knowing who is assoiciated with the mag doesnt mean a thing. You pay for something you should get your product, whether or not you know the people involved.

    4. Everyone is tired of seeing these posts a few months... well, they keep coming up... what does that tell you? Its an ongoing problem.

I havent seen anything for my subscription money either.

I dont think its fraud, but its painfully obviously that its a problem that hasnt been fixed.

  18. I agree with Scooter, only two threads on the board are whiney from the guy? WTF?

On the other hand JJ and Stoner need to pull their heads out. My brother has cantacted them MANY times and has NEVER seen an issue in the many months since he subscribed. Step up boys and get the magazine out those who have paid.

For the record I dig the magazine and own many of the issues including #1 that Ryan handed to me in his garage years ago. By no means am I a hater of them or the mag........just get it done already!

Okay, so if everyone recognizes (and I'm saying this in a genuinely curious and respectful tone) that it's still coming up and there has been no recourse, why aren't people doing more than just talking about it? Why aren't you guys actually taking legal action to get things resolved? Seems like a lot of you guys are having the same issue with this.

I'm genuinely curious why this keeps coming up with little to no action.

My comment regarding "knowing who's associated" was to reinforce the fact that there are other ways to handle things then just logging onto the HAMB and airing out your dirty laundry. Since this is an FNG, it didn't appear that the research had been done, and in-turn created a thread.

I dig the magazine. I will keep buying it. I don't have a subscription, so I don't know what you guys are going through first-hand, but I do see an uninformed person starting a thread with repetative complaining.

If Hambers can get together to stop a smog bill from passing in California Im sure getting some guys there magazine subscription should be no big deal. Especially if the guys that run it post on here. I like the mag but have heard too many horror stories about not getting subscriptions from my buddies. There must be a problem somewhere.

Yep. And it is probably going to be a resurfacing issue until it is resolved, no matter who's name is associated with it. Hope something happens positively, it seems it's been an awful long time with this nonsense.

Well, perhaps someone from the admin of the board needs to talk to Stoner or JJ. Its a recurring problem that pops up every so often on the board.

I know I'll shoot him an email. Heck, I've advertised with Garage.

but the Subscription problem needs to be solved... if nothing else so I can get my copies of the mag. :D

  24. You can only fight that fight when it REALLY deserves it:D Like times when a person types 200 word w/o a comma or period............would it REALLY? kill them?

I got on a guy once about his shitty typing and spelling and i got a note from the boss telling me to lighten up cause the guy had a valid question.. Soooo.
Guess the boss was having a bad day... I have them my self. I also made a mistake once but ill be god damned if i can remember where when or why.. Oh back to the topic... these guys have paid for something and they arent getting it or any answers from what I read.. Thats just plain bad business practice and i dont give a fuck who knows who.. In todays fucked up world it seems there are a lot of people ready to take money with a bunch of promises and someone gets fucked in the end... Not good .. Pay for something and you should get it in a timely manner no bull shit..
    Now pass the popcorn please:)

Seeing as how Mr James of WCC fame now owns the magazine it would seem he should be some what accountable. There is nothing on the Garage website explaining what the hold up is. Shit happens we all know it but when you have hundreds of people that paid for a product and dont recieve it....a little explanation is more than called for

That magazine is really popular. I dont see them not taking care of this. The magazine is well put together, one of the best. I have no affiliation with it, and i am not kissing ass. Why dont you just get it at border books, theY have all the car zines before they can get to your house.
