Not nearly as gay as someone who rents a shitty apartment, works on their non running 4 dr infront of thier place in the street without even a roof, yet somehow has a "shop" truck. With some cliche logo on the door. Might as well just stuff a sock in the ol' undies and complete the effect.

A pet peave of mine. I can pay for the parts I use and really think I don't have to advertise for free after I do. The exceptions are vintage parts from the old time companies. Who would mind having a Moon, Offenhauser, Edelbrock logo cast into their engine parts. The same goes for Halibrand and Isky. It stops there for me unless it's an origonal water transfer decal placed properly and discretely. A weathered decal is the ultimate.

Back in the early 60's when you bought an Isky cam and sent in the registration (?) slip that came in the box you got an Isky T shirt in the mail in a few weeks. It was a badge of honor in those days to wear one.

I agree 100% that discretion is important when putting branded pieces on ones rig. The simple brand name on the valve covers or heads as shown in previous posts is cool but having the same brand name plastered in three or four places on the engine isn't. Proper decals in the rear quarter windows is cool if you have a period correct gasser but not cool for Joe Schmucks street car. My truck might be MSD equipped but my tool box got the decal added to it's collection.

And would someone please explain which directions these "flame decals" from Autozone go on the car to the clowns with the Hondas with the fart pipes. It's hard to stop laughing and drive when you see the flames on the car backwards along with being in the wrong places and positions.

Oh, MAN! Are you nuts? You have to make it law that those idiots put that crap on their cars! It's like an "auto parts store regulated idiot detector" Aint it great? Ps. My 59 Caddy with sbc gets plain ol skool corvette style valvecovers with no logos anywhere. plain jane intake and air cleaner. no logos. my 65 Caddy thats done in sort of a retarded hotrod style gets sort of 70's ish logo parts liks MT valve covers and such other appropriate brands. But ONLY in the engine compartment...
It's a matter of taste for what project you are doing. Also, I buy non logo shirts and cut the tags off all my dickies pants... That's just me. I choose who I want to advertise for. -GothY-

  13. i have a race only car the valve covers have the name of a friends engine shop on them but i built the engine support your pals an all that and the cars will have a small logo of the chassis builder another pal because i am proud to own one of the first cars off his jig and i want the people to know who built it .

but i think stickers are for race trailers only.

I never understood the bolts with the logos on them, how many times do you need to say the same thing?

    Hey no problem.

A well placed manufacturer logo, the right logo, MAKES a high performance car. But club logos aren't about the car, they're about the owner. So why don't the owners wear the plaques? They'd make great belt buckles. Never understood that one, but hey fuck it.

I'm tellin ya, it would be so fucking gay to have a flathead slathered with everything edelbrock makes. And just plain tacky to display a name like Navarro.

Isn't smooth everything with no logos a fundamental of billet rodding?

i like my dash script, and my bowtie under the hood ornament, but thats it. no bow tie hubcaps, valve caps, hats, broadie spinners, headlight visors, eyelids, or any of that stuff. dash and hood front, thats all.

If you think logos on cars are bad, look at the 90% of Harley owners ( I just sold a nice 61 Panhead to finance my Diamond T pickup project and finish the '36 Fordillac, so I'm a recently reformed Harley owner:eek:).

In an attempt to look different from all the other Harley riders with logo'd clothing and tat's, they dress up in more "Harley Davidson" branded clothing than the next guy, from their doo-rags, underwear, belt buckles and boots, and get the bar and sheild tattoo'd on various body parts. It's comical, if a little bit sad...

Two years ago we were in Brown Co. Indiana, touring on the Pan, having lunch at a very cool little restaraunt near the Brown Co. State Park, when a couple rode up on a new Road King. This couple, carefully coiffedand manicured, had to each have had not one item of clothing or accessory on that DIDN'T have the HD logo on. They looked like clowns, and the bike had more HD approved accessories than you could shake a Visa Gold card at. I'm sort of proud to say that the one Harley t-shirt I bought I wear in the garage.

I always felt phony trying to LOOK like a biker, so I just tried to to look like me.
