Did 47 - 64 Chevy pickups share spindles with 1 tons?

    I'm lookin to upgrade the brakes on my 49 1 ton Panel and I just wanna make sure they share spindles with the lighter trucks.

    Any help/insight is appreciated


    added: sorry, i mean 54 Chevy, not 64.

    Yes and no.

    Yes they are the same as 3/4-ton trucks. No they are not the same as 1/2-ton trucks. King pin and spindle diameters are available here: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/chevyresto/54130.htm.

    I think that answers your direct question. One option is to swap to a 1/2-ton axle, though in doing so you give up some GVW rating.

    thank you sir, thats exactly what I needed!

    I never plan on hauling more than the driver and 1 or 2 p***engers, so the GVW isnt very important.

    on my 59 chev truck 1/2 3/4 and 1 ton all had diff spindles it was shown in a dealer spec book printed it came up in the topic of ride hieght, cause when i need a replacement front axle it had to be a 1 ton not 3/4 or 1/2
