I'm lookin to upgrade the brakes on my 49 1 ton Panel and I just wanna make sure they share spindles with the lighter trucks. Any help/insight is appreciated added: sorry, i mean 54 Chevy, not 64.
Yes and no. Yes they are the same as 3/4-ton trucks. No they are not the same as 1/2-ton trucks. King pin and spindle diameters are available here: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/chevyresto/54130.htm. I think that answers your direct question. One option is to swap to a 1/2-ton axle, though in doing so you give up some GVW rating.
ahhhhh sweet thank you sir, thats exactly what I needed! I never plan on hauling more than the driver and 1 or 2 p***engers, so the GVW isnt very important.
on my 59 chev truck 1/2 3/4 and 1 ton all had diff spindles it was shown in a dealer spec book printed it came up in the topic of ride hieght, cause when i need a replacement front axle it had to be a 1 ton not 3/4 or 1/2
