Plenty of resources for parts so 'fixin and driving' should not break the bank. The flat-6 is may not be over powered but it will run forever. Great parts hauler!!

Just lower it and drive it!
What ever you do: Don't paint it!
Only time can give it that cool look!

    A few updates..

I rebuilt the carb, pulled the heater out and capped the head ports, killed all the vac lines, pulled all of the 6V wiring from the cab forward ( this cleaned the engine bay and cab up greatly ), and installed all of 12V engine electrical pieces.

Still waiting on the starter to be rebuilt. This week I will wire all of the 12V engine stuff, the IGN switch, install some MECH guages, and relocated my the 12V red top battery back to the stock location ( under the cab ).

Once I get the starter back, I will gravity feed the carb and try to fire this PIG. If she fires, and I can get it running decent, I will need a new fuel pump, and then on to brakes. After that we get to see if the trans and clutch survived it's 20 year nap. :D

Drive it and haul with it!!!

  16. If you ask the question, you'll eventually chop it up and make it your own, but if you drive it as it is you'll have fun with it and it will let you take time to decide how you want to re-build it. Looks like it's gonna be fun to drive.

Theres just something about funky old ugly trucks! The so called "Bobber" trucks are just a waste of good sheet metal - or as a guy at the donut shop said, "The New Rat Rods", OK maybe that's a little too harsh....
The current trend of fender less chopped up cabs will fall out of fashion and won't be worth much of anything, but a good old useful truck will ALWAYS have value!
I would update it mechanically with a 340 and disc brakes, make sure the steering is up to snuff and use it to chase parts and women while driving the piss out of it.

And NO everything does NOT look better with a couple of inches out of it, especially 40 Fords. We have a sign in my shop "Just because you can, Doesn't mean you should", its right next to the one that says "Just because they make it in her size, doesn't mean she should wear it"
Just my opinion and after all, he asked

One of my favorite trucks, nice piece. I like stock body, hammered on the ground, preferrably with out bags. Good Luck. Very cool truck

Australian point of view: leave it stock as good solid iron untouched will be more off an asset than a good hack job. the longer you keep a stocker the more it will be worth. Slamer onto the ground with some mother of wheels tyres, stick a barn stormer motor in her, but leave the body as sweet as she is.
ORRRRRR! send over to me. :~)

Sounds great...looks like it's going to be fun no matter which way you go with it.

BUT...I'd really like to see a video of you getting into that coupe...I'm not convinced you'll fit!

Installed master. Unplugged a few lines in the process. I'm thinking I have 1 or 4 cyl working. Pedal is ROCK hard, but truck acts like it's only stopping on front left wheel.

Need to pull tires off and inspect brakes.

This truck is fun to drive though... My trans issues has gone away and is now only the typical 2nd to 1st grind.

    More to come

    Front brakes are done.

24.00 for rebuild kits. The cyl were frozen solid. New rubbers and a quick polish on the pistons and were good to go.

I added a can of STP to the oil and it stopped smoking:D. Still have a rod knock though.

I'm going to drop the pan and hopefully find one worn or spun bearing that can be repaird in the truck. Well see. POPCHOPS told me about an old school (short term) leather trick he did on a JAG back in the day.

Fun low buck project for sure.

I'm going to show it in the local chili cook off and see what kind of response I get. LOL

very few left that complete, not a belly button or kit car. drive it as is, update drivetrain later. cut if you must, but that old dodge will draw a crowd as is.

I'm really not into the bobber truck thing. The only reason I see to make a bobber is if you only have the cab or the rest of the truck is shit. The truck you just picked up looks pretty nice, some subtle mods should make a nice ride.
