anybody have any pro's and con's about them? My dodge has a clip from a 79 Firebird grafted to the front of it. I wanted to know if there are problem areas I should look for or other tips to make it better. Can I get lowered springs for these? Can I put chrome smoothie rims on this clip or will I have problems clearing the disk brake caliper? Thanks in advance. later plmczy

I'm running a '78 Camaro clip with 14" smoothies...no caliper clearance problems. Can't say if there is a difference between Camaro and Firebird.

If you use a shorter spring you'll need a shorter shock. They also make (mo'$$) drop spindle's for your clip. They used alone will not require a short shock. Shop around, the coil's need to be good not the el cheap-o AIM ind. type. Eibach is really good. How low you gonna go?

I figure about 2 inches just to get away from the 4x4 look. The previous owner who installed the clip took off the brake calipers to put on a set of "hurricane" type rims so he could move the car around. These rims don't have much backspacing so that could be the reason why. Would those slammer type shocks that they use on the mini trucks work or do I have to get something more make speciffic? Thanks guy's. later plmczy

Keep your old coil's and trim 1 (coil) wrap. Keep going till it's where you like it. It may be more than 2". Go to : www.sporttruckdirect.com Check out their result's in comparing shock brand's. I run their's on an every day year round S-10 Blazer, dropped 5/5. Great tech. Run a sway bar.

I wanted to stay away from cutting the coils because of the discussions about them on here from before alot of cons then pros about them. This sub has a sway bar on it, a mighty big one I might add. Thanks for the link, later plmczy

Cut the old coil's and use as a mock-up to help get a visual. The best is aftermarket, like Eibach.

  9. I had Landrum Z-700 springs on the Camaro and they were great (Like being in a really big slot car).
That spring rate is probably way to stiff for you but they do make a good spring. Check your front end weight and give Landrum or Eibach a call. They will hook you up after a short Q/A session.

camaro z 28 springs from an early 70's car sit 1.5 inches lower then stock also when you have the wheel alignment done have it set to z28 settings for better handling and ride
