so the 3 week thrash began today bright and early. met the tow truck driver out in my parking lot at 8:30 to tow the 50 down to deniese's sister house. thanks to her i have a garage to work in instead of a condoa parking lot. car went right on the flat bed missing the pavement by a nut hair. (damn lowriders) go the car down there with out a problem and loaded into the new work space. shot down the road a few miles to grab fathack up for the fun to begin. after going and picking up the new top secrete motor and loading up a cherry picker from my shop we were ready to get at it. minus having to hunt my damn civic down that some how ended up in some elses hands then the person i lent it to last night but thats a whole other story. finaly back at the car around 1:30 we got to work at trying to get the front clip off to make to make life a little easier. but that turned into a big ordeal do to bondo bolts and stupid over kill brakets to hold the fenders on. so we ditched that whole idea and just went to work on getting motor number 4 out the 216 i got from rocketj2 that i decided to part ways with. so we grabed the sawzall and cut off the stupid bar on the core suport. ( a new one will be welded back in) that bar makes swaping motors on these old chevys the biggest pain in the ***. so it had to go. got the half hooked up motor out in no time once navagating the canyons of a well aged michigan drive way with the picker. nest we went to town on cutting out and removing all things not needed any more. cut off most of the fire wall ribs that hack loves so dearly on his 49 and even showed him how to work a sawzall he got the honers of cutting the shifter shaft in half so it would pull outa the fire wall. after all the t******* and hacking was done we got the new motor chained up and ready for a test fit. went right in like it came that way from GM onley have to fab up a tricky little mount for the damn driver side to clear all the steering ******** . and some how figure out how the shifter will work sticking up thru the middle of the bench seat haha but all in all it was a very productice day. i see no problem getting it ready intime for the drags (famouse last words right haha) but as smooth as this silly thing im doing went i hope it refelcts on how the rest of the project will go. all the idea's are there now i just need to make them happen. watch out for hack and dirtys kustom shop and out 92 civic shop truck hahaha [IMG] [IMG]

So, when do we get to know what the "top secrete motor" is? Answers do not include vega 4 cylinder ****boxes, sorry. Could it be a ford flathead? perhaps a Y-block?

The best pump to use for it IMO is a GTR pump or a if you want something local a Walbro. I have a few GTR pumps, but we should keep all this import stuff on the down low or we are going to get killed on here...Let me know if you need anything for it, cause I'm over here where it is from for another month...Dave
