painting anodized parts

    do you have to remove all the gold anodize from the new parts in order to paint or can you just paint over it?

    dunno about gold anodizing but we remove the anodizing from fittings with original easy off oven cleaner the non scented kind.

    If the parts aren't aluminum, I doubt if it's anodized.
    It may be that gold iridium or sumthin'.

    If you have steel parts, they are more than likely cadmium plated, you can prime and paint right over it. If you have aluminum parts that are anodized or chem filmed, they can be treated the same way. This is generally the recommended surface treatment prior to paint.

    When in doubt, etching primer will help the bonding.
