I feel your pain, BUT at least your wife doesn't work for the city like mine does. I had the Mayor  show up at my door one day & politely  asked me to either sell my truck in my backyard or it would be towed away. At least he was kind enough to give me 2 weeks to do it though because according to one of the code enforcement guys I know said they could have just showed up w/a tow truck & taken from my "fenced in backyard"...joe

i have to chime in here, because in the last twelve years of owning my home i've been saddled with several business-minders from down the street (i too live on a cul de sac) who just HAVE to see what i'm up to now; and i finally broke down and built a security gate that blocks off the view of my backyard from the street in both directions. i'm no innocent pleader here; my tactics are pure evasion of county ordinance if i can manage it. luckily there is a question of which agency is responsible for this little triangle of the city; the county as well as the city cops patrol, but leave me pretty much alone. i even have my Galaxie out front, not registered but running and driveable. everything i have will RUN, fortunately, and also fortunately for me, funds for enforcing are short around here.

one night a county deputy rang the doorbell ASKING to check the backyard for a fleeing suspect; i told him he was more than welcome and handed him the keys to the cars so he could check inside them. he said NOTHING about my having (i think) 6 cars in the back at the time.
sometimes they're cool with you doing your own thing.

I had a neighbor ***** me out once about having too many vehicles here in Tulsa. Then I showed her the picture below and told her that if she *****ed too much I'd go ahead and tag it and park it in my driveway to start the renovation on it! She cooled her jets on complaining, built a 6' privacy fence between our properties, and kept her distance. Her husband died a few years ago, and last winter during the ice storm my kids and I would pick up her newspaper from the ice slick that was her yard and toss it on her porch for her. She's been a doll ever since!

  6. The parking enforcement guy is just doing his ****ty job. Everyone hates him. And he doesnt make **** for doing it. Put it in the back yard. Somebody ratted you out. Usually someone that is concerned about his property values (realtors). I used to live in Oceanside, California in San Diego, and it happend all the time, then moved out here to Crockett ,Texas. I can weld the Effiel tower out here and no one gives a ****. I have a friend who has 659 cars at his house on 25 acres...Mikey

Any one know if Pa has laws like this or is it different for every county or town ? I have 12 cars ,I think, I loose track sometimes at my house right know and have had as much as 18 at one time .I do keep 6 in one garage and one in another,2 are my work trucks,1 is my wifes car and 1 is my nephews Mustang, and the other 2 are old Mustang bodys.
Do any of you have laws that do not allow you to have cars that are not registered even if they are inside a garage ? Just wondering what I have to look forward to if they start to get nosey. Jimin Pa.

Most states have exceptions in the state statutes......such as "special interest vehicles" which yours is......look up the statutes online as I did and school your local authorities, that really pisses 'em off.

Mikey, are those 659 cars in Crockett? If they are when can we look at them? I go to Elkhart all the time. Boss has a place up there. TP

Ended up in court a few years ago, because the local zoning guy kept getting calls from a ***** 2 blocks away about the cars in my driveway.

In MI, old cars now fall under a "blight" ordinance. This allows "them" to grab your car & fine you, with little recourse on your part. The ordinance officers can crawl around your property to answer a neighbor's complaint, then they issue you a citation to appear in court.

Now I have a privacy fence around the non-op car in the yard & it seems to have kept the zoning goons away. It is painted dark green to blend in with the evergreens, so you can't see it from the street. I'd suggest building a screen to hide the car & add some shrubs or a climbing plant to better hide it, perhaps then they'll leave you alone.

BTW- That's why we need to support the SEMA Action Network to stop this ****!!! Did everybody register???

good fences make good neighbors. have lived in west phx 35yrs and have 3 licensed cars , a car trailer and 5 projects. ran dirt track cars for 15 yrs. none of this was or is visable from the street.have never had a problem. i would second the realtor deal or maybe a block watch survey. more than likely you can resolve this with the inspector.
