Heres the "group" at the Rumble yesterday, I don't know whos who. I think i'm in th center with the CBGB shirt JimV
37 kid, where did you get the dover shirt? I use to race a 65 falcon & a 66 mustang there in the 60's!! My Father owned the driving range in Paterson, on 22 a few miles befoe wingdale. JimV
JimV, Did you happen to know Lou and Ray Vignogna (64 ply called Earthquake) or Vinnie Ceasrine (67 cuda called The Shadow)? BTW, I was making Dover Dragstrip shirts a while back, but the guys that run the reunions got a little pissy about it, so I stopped.
Jim, There is a Dover Drag Strip Reunion every year, September 12, 2004 at Marcus Dairy in Danbury Connecticut. I have "Alley Oop" the Modifiers B/D rail and Dover house car, and "The U.S.Mule II" the Don Noyes AA/MSP U.S. Nationals winner from 1965. The fellow in the HAMB photo on my left is the current owner/restorer of the ledgendary "Blown Hearse" that ran Dover with a blown 409. Really neat bumping into him and hearing about all the original parts that were saved from this car. I only went to Dover once, I was ten years old in 1961, and that "Blown Hearse" startup is still as clear in my mind as the moment it happened. Looks like a lot of the pre 1965 Dover cars have survived.
we sat through a zillion shots, and this is the one we get to look at!?! I'm the guy in the black hat, white shirt. sorry i didnt get to meet everybody. dan
Next year we should have a signin board and name tags. I wish I'd hung around and found out who was who. I'll try and setup something at Hershey at my flea market spot, should have a few H.A.M.B. members wandering around down there.
