Seeking any information that someone may have on a recently purchased 1951 Ford Tudor KUSTOM....

    What we know so far...

Info recieved at this time indicated that the car is Canadian Built Kustom

This car may have been a different color as during the stripping process multi layers of paint occured.

We have indications that this car my have been first modified in the MID 50's

We have recieved info that the car was a drag race car sometime in its life... The interior (Panels Removed) revieveled extensive body lightning in the doors and quarter panel sub panels.... We also received info that the car may have been a TWIN Engine Car... Not sure if it was a side by side or an inline set up as the ch***is has been changed to what we believe is a 70's to 80's GM Ch***is.... The hood (Full tilt front w/hydraulics) reviels that there was a LARGE opening possibly to allow for engine clearance.

The dash and interior has a 1951 Dash extensively modified to fit a GM dash within the steel housing (Sorry I dont have a picture of the interior)
The car has a GM Console with floor shifter and has 2 bucket seats in front and single bench seat in the back....

The exterior uses canted quad headlights and a 59 Buick Grill Section.
The tail lights are 1954 Mercury inverted.

Now here comes the Biggie.... The car is Channeled over the current GM Ch***is.... The top is chopped I would guess about 3 inches...

Any information (HISTORY) will be greatly appreciated.

I will gladly p*** it along to the current owner...

    Thanks
    Rich King

I remember seeing the car at Holland Michigan in 90 and have a nice pic of it when it was in Dark Blue suede .Yep...Thats the one!The car had round parking lights at the time, spoked wheels and was in nice shape. The Ontario licence plate # was 031 CEN. By the way ,this is Anthony ,the kid from New York who ya used to show those pics of Les Dunhams pickup to that ya had in your wallet when I was young.By the way,The car had 2 Buick portholes in the hood when I saw it 18 years ago.

A friend of mine owned it back then,I am sure its the same car, I never saw it but was told about it and it sure seems like the same car,it had a set back engine and had been a drag racer at one time Darcy Mcgroarty (last name spelling might be off a bit!) was my buddy who owned it ,was a member of the Coasters Kemp Club ,he lives near Marmora Ontario, retired fom the Navy now, he was a destoyer captain, lemme know if you want his Phone # (he doesnt do computers) I would bet my last nickle thats his old ride, I was told by other friends he put it on a GM ch***is, hes the guy I bought my chopped 48 Dodge Carson topped sled from you can seeit in my avatar (well sort of!!)

    Steve

Oh yeah he didnt do the original build...it is an old custom ,but he put it back together on the GM frame after the misguided attempt to make a racecar out of it. The guys he sold it to swore up and down that they wanted to restore and drive the car but they just re-sold it asap for profit which is how it ended up in the States,he was pretty upset about them ********ting him,it took a while to get him to agree to sell the 48 Dodge to me because of this...I have dragged it all over the country with me,lol but I still have it and will Finally get started on it this winter.

    Steve ...........

If you can get me a phone number that would be greatly appreciated.... The 51 is currently undergoing a redo (not a full restoration)... I will try to get some pictures over the weekend and get them posted in the thread...

Thanks for your help and please feel free to send anything else that you may remember..... We are currently trying to put together a history on the car... The car is currently in New Jersey........

    Update Photos.......

    Just a note.....

Richard (Richie) Porphy of Parsippany New Jersey purchased the car from George Watson from Canada. Richard had all intentions of having the Kustom finished by Wes of B&H Auto Craft in Boonton, NJ..... Last night 8/31/08 Richie p***ed away after a 10 year battle with cancer. May He Rest in Piece.

Richie's Daughter (Teresa) will work with Wes and friends finishing the car that her dad never seen finished. Being a VERY active Street Rodder and Kustom Kar builder... Richie was an upholster by trade and very active in may kustom interiors from the 50' to the 90's. He obviously left his mark on many cars in the local area..... Richie had a love of Chopped Shoe Box Fords... Richie also had an extreme p***ion to own the El Matador (built by Cushinbury) a dream maybe, a p***ion YES...!!!

I have all intentions of Showing a build by build of this car as it comes together... Keep an eye on this thread as this car once again will see the road one more time...........

Richie will be missed. Rest in Peace, Oddball. (He had me letter that nickname on several of his cars over the years.) He was about as rabid a rodder as you could find, always looking to make something "kooler" than it was when he bought it, usually with success. I'm still looking to find more info on the '51, so if you have any old pics or info on the car, it would be appreciated. I can be reached at B&H Autocraft until the end of the month, 973-335-2430 or by email at we3s@optonline.net. Thanks, Wes

That really ****s man.... I hope his daughter can see it finished in his memory...and yes George Watson and his son are the ones who bought the car from Darcy...the pic that 00Mack posted is from when Darcy had the car, the 59 Buick in the background was fellow Coasters members Paul Brenners.

'Long time ago, in Hamilton, Ontario, there was a member of the Road Runners car club that had a '51 Ford that he was installing two engines.
The Road Runners are still around. You may be able to search them and get more info.
