need help identifying a early gm engine

    i am sure it is a gm. it has an block like the early hemi with the extended bell housing. if someone has pictures of olds, pontiac, that would help. i know it is not a buick

    Big Olds v8, 49-64 had extended bellhousings. Starter on L.H. side, Horizontal oil filter can on R.H. side.

    that is the motor i am talking about, thanks for the help. is there any value to it. the motor is stuck.

    Get some casting numbers; there's a big difference in desireability between a 303 and a 394. Also, it depends on how "stuck" it is. Again, big difference between an engine that's got seized rings from sitting in a building for thirty years and an engine that's been full of water for the same amount of time.
