There is something wrong if you've got an independent frontend on a fenderless car. And if it's got a F*&%'n Caterpillar grille. I highly encourage at least thinking about things like stance, safety, proportion, style, and maybe an approximate year the vehicle COULD have been built. Just my $.02.
and here I thought we had this all sorted out last night. I guess that should have been, shut up, read and learn. Norton
alright now were getting somewere see its just miss communication guys....a term, not defined correctly.... it seems you want to build a hot rod...great....now get after it
Dude...I am NOT bagging on you...... If your young(I assume you are) and eager, its all about learning. Too many young guys have been kicked to the curb trying to learn about hotrods. I was there and just kept with it.(And I still am learning everyday.) Do research is all and ask all the questions you want. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. This is a bad ass HOTROD
Here's some quick questions. Answer them to yourself and quickly. If you can't answer them each inside of five seconds, it's a safe bet that you really do need to follow Bottomedout39's advice. And look at him; he's been around for 3 years, posted a mere 7 times and knows how it works. Oh and no cheating with Google or Wiki... 1. What's your favorite hot rod built before 1970? 2. Would you rather have a Tardel flathead or a stock Buick Nailhead? 3. Would you rather have a Muncie M21 or a LaSalle 3-speed? 4. Who is your favorite hot rod builder who has passed through the Pearly Gates? 5. How many times a year is Rodder's Journal sent out? Seriously. If you stumble on more then two, seek professional help. Or read more posts before asking any more questions. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, just trying to help you learn.
ratrod exorcism complete! whew Im exhausted....THANKs for the help Jeff some of these guys just need steered in the right direction....
Good thread!! I agree with an earlier post that expunging 'rat rod' from people's vocabulary is an uphill battle to say the least. I got the verbal baseball bat upside my thick skull on this topic early on... glad I did. It either is traditional or it is not, and reading, listening and practice all lead you to the point of UNDERSTANDING that 'traditional' is non-negotiable. ...my $0.02.
{pictured rat rod, then a hot rod, then a street rod) Everyone is entitled to an opinion... but your uneducated opinion is WRONG dude. Sorry. Keep reading and learning. You'll get there. And welcome aboard. Ah, the Busby coupe. Perfection. That pic never gets old.
I don't know. Sometimes I think guys get on here pretending to be "noobs" and post stupid shit just to see what kind of reaction they can get. Seriously.
Muncie......and I stumbled on a couple of others too Vance What'd cost to build this "perfect" hotrod anyway????
Hey, thats my desktop pic at work. Glad to see you and I agree! Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming....
I'd rather a LaSalle over an M21, but an M22 over an M21; but that's just me. Again, you're informed due to diligence. once more proving my point, thank you.
I'd say that at the core of all this, this guy introduced himself, kept an open mind, and isn't really starting any shit. He caught on about the forbidden word pretty quick. I think he'll do well here... That "R" word is hard to wipe out of the vocabulary of people that don't spend any time on the HAMB. My Dad (it drives me nuts) still uses it ALL the time. His car buddies all use it. I politely tell my point of view and move on.
Get Back, Don't make me do it: Model A 5 Window Model A 5 Window Model A 5 Window Model A 5 Window Model A 5 Window Take that 49RF HAHAHAHA
those three pictures were switched around when i first saw them on here . so of course what i wrote is then screwed up. i was saying streetrod to the red coupe not the gold one. and not to step on any toes. ive been "aboard" the boat since june 2005.
