After nearly 3 years in a Tokyo Apartment smaller than a prison cell, I'm OUTTA here!!!!!

I've met JUST A FEW great people here, seen some cool cars and LOTS of bikes, and had my sanity SAVED BY THE HAMB. I also was on the HAMB EVERY day...with nothing else more fun than that, that didn't cost money. I gave **** to total strangers, and hopefully even gave HELPFUL advice on the rare occasion where it was something I actually KNEW about!!!

I caught trains for 3 hours to be the only gaijin in a 100 mile radius at a rod event...and posted pix here on the HAMB.

    I've met some AWESOME visitors:

    Keith Weezner
    Cole Foster
    Skratch
Har**** - wheeling a chopper all the way into a convenience store for a photoshoot and the old Japnese staff and customers having an absolute cow:D
    Kennedy Bros
    Dice Magazine dudes

John - Coolstuff (why WOULDN'T we share a private booth with two teenage girls we'd never met before, but chatted to in line?????)
    HemiDave
Ryan - Smitty78 (we really should do a sushi lunch again sometime)
Jay and his wife a few weeks back - supercool folks!

    Nash from Burnout magazine
    The funky guys from Mooneyes
    Shorty from Pumkin Sally
Hiroki (THE man in Tokyo!!!!!) from greaser band HellRacer

    oh

and 'some old guy' called GENE WINFIELD

Got some AWESOME bits for my 52 Ford F1 that I could NEVER find in Australia, and dudes I've NEVER met (Stragedy and Abe Lugo) sent them to me FOR FREEEEEEEEE

I'll go back to Melbourne, Australia on Monday, and having a garage (full of cars and parts and TOOLS) I WON'T be on the hAMB for a little while....but I'll take LOTS of PICS of all the cool old stuff that all the cool OLD guys (who would NEVER use a PC) have stashed while I go visiting;)

    so.......THANK YOU HAMB.....

    New Screen name recommendations welcome.

Salty's right. Congrats on getting back to Melbourne. I love that city nearly as much as Tokyo! What I like most is the countryside around it. Awesome. I'll drop you a line if I end up back that way.

Congrats on "escaping" Japan! I moved to Nagoya in April and will be here another year or so. Still really digging it though, but I'm sure I'll miss home at some point. I wish we coulda met, but I only was able to make it up to Tokyo once for the Moon Eyes show. Since so many know you by your Japan name, I think part of that should stay. So another vote for "outta Japan" Good luck on the projects and have a safe trip home!

Thanks for the hoodie, maybe next time I'll trade you for a hoodie from an Australian show.
Hit me up if there is anything I can help with from Southern California.

    Too Late!!!!!!!!!;)

I got back 9 am yesterday, and my father was actually surprised that I got out of his car and went STRAIGHT IN THE GARAGE, for the rest of the day!!!!!:D What a GREAT DAY:)

In homage to my former students, I was thinkin about a name like "Mark-sensei-what-goed-back-for-Aussutrayria",

but I think I want to go with something more me, like

    Mark in the GARAGE

lemme know what you think and don't be shocked if I totally dismiss your suggestions!!

Thanks for everyone's good wishes and kind thoughts!

    ...and please remember.....

Yeah, it matters WHAT you build, and drive.....but it matters more WHO you drive with- so get out there drivin with your favourite folks!!!!!!!:)

    BTW......next Melbourne event?????????
