"Oh, just a stock Camaro with an high flow intake...that's all"
    "OK....say for $50?"
    "How 'bout $200?"
"Uhmmmm.....can I look over your car?"

looks like we may have ourselves an automobile race.

  7. FWIW the LS1 only came in the Camaro from 1998 - 2002, a 1997 Camaro Z/28 would have an iron block LT1.

And you've never met Joe-Bob. It's stock. It wouldn't matter if it wasn't. No 3800lb car is going to take something out of this shop. Big talk, or science? Joe-Bob will be the judge.

I know my own T at 1800 lbs will boil the hides if you put your foot to much into it at the launch, better learn how to roll it out.

good luck guys, i'm rootin for ya.

I got alot of shit talk from guys in Civics, Camaros, Mustangs, a few corvettes, etc. on me and the pops '35 Ford. Rarely did they ever have anything under the hood and rarely do they ever wanna race after they find out what we got (they usually spew all the details about their car before you say anything about your own). I've come across few people who can "talk the talk, and even less who can walk the walk" (for lack of better words)

And what kind of power are these 3800 lb. cars running? 1200-1500 hp? The Black Car (TM) weighs 3080 lbs. and makes 930 hp, runs 8.48 at 153.05. At a tenth per 100 lbs, well, you can all do the math.

The point here is not to start a weight-speed pissing match. So far, we've been able to not "boil the hides" on some other cars. Transfer of weight, proper suspension geometry, spring rate, etc. is all key to hook. The point is to hand a newer car owning shit talker his ass-holieoh.

Thanks Lucky. Yep, we're hoping to have it a roller for the HCPU. Maybe even the funny car cage installed.

HotRodchassis- The cars looking great, I just chopped my 27 last night. My first chop. Do you have any more pictures of the chop? like how the pillars fit together and everything, The top part of the roof is about a half inch wider than the bottom once I sat it back on the body. How do you correct this, do I have to section the roof part or just use a porta power and just push them out to match back up?

    Thanks for any help!

A square top chop isn't that hard, but there are a ton of different ways of doing it. Some chop the front pillar in the middle and the slice and spread the top and bottom sections and then weld them up. Some cut the rivets that hold the upper sill (piece over the door) to the front pillar and then just cut the front pillar down. I'm sure there are several people on the board that would post several different ways of chopping your car. I could suggest starting another thread with photographs of what you've already done and ask for advice. It's hard for me to give you advice without knowing how much you've chopped out, where you chopped each section, and what it looks like now. Hope this helps.

We've got the front end on, and it's on it's own front wheels. We also located a pair of NOS Avon 3.50-18 H rated Speed Masters for the hoops.

The rear slicks came in also, and now with the front end in, we're ready to go on the building the Double Live Gonzo rear axle so it'll plant the skins.

Yep. I've got the rear end fabricated and have been installing the rear suspension. The seats are mounted. And if Moser comes through and the axle shafts come in tomorrows UPS, it'll be on it's own wheels, and at the Pile Up in our booth! I'm going to try to get some of the cage in before the show, we'll see. I'll post some photographs later tonight.
