Going to purchase a new 32 frame for a 31 model A highboy project that is in the works. I've done some looking around on the internet and on the auction site and it looks like lots of companies are making them. I'm not sure who to get one from. I'm looking at just a perimeter frame set up as I plan to make the motor and ****** mounts. Would it be best to buy a frame from Speedway or Brookville that is already pinched and ready to go? Need help and suggestions. Also if you got one from a company and you liked the quality..let me know Thank you Jerry
check out these guys they are very good i have gotten a frame and a set of frame rails off them http://www.kiwikonnection.org/
Why do you want to pinch the frame, it only sticks outside the body width slightly.......back in the day, most guys wouldn't have bothered. A 31 body almost fits, and making it fit 100% is more of a modern thing to do. IMO Pie cut the cowl to the top contour of the frame and narrow the rear to fit inside the body call it done.
I'll be in the market for one in a year or two, and was told by a local shop that all the repo rails need fine tuning before you can build a square frame. Look for someone with a good frame jig to help put it together.
if i was to buy a 32 frame i would call the guys at Ionia Hotrod Shop. pm hotroddrumer here on the hamb, he can help you if any one can. quallity is very high and they take great pride in what they produce! i wouldnt trust my frame to any one else!!!!!!!
IHRS has one ready to go that sounds like it might work for you. Give Hotroddrummer a PM What he said.....
Thanks for throwing my hat in the ring. All the 32/A frames we do are custom built for the customer. Right now have 3 going..... I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have. Shoot me a PM. If your going purely on price,be careful some real sharks out there in the internet waters. Always research before dropping your coins. Our 32 frame jig ....(bad pic)(early one too I see now) and one we did with Ionia parts.. and a custom jack stand
That is one nice looking frame! Do you have any special deals on shipping them? I would think shipping costs would have an effect on who you buy a fram from.
Can get anyone interested a great deal on a SO-CAL Ch***is. They are bullet-proof and well suited to the home builder that's not a fabricator as all the brackets can be delivered attached and be custom ordered in different configurations. If you are also interested in anything from Kiwi, Riley or Iona we are friends as well and would work with any of them to help meet your needs. Respect all the names mentioned above so no way to really go wrong. Good luck with the project, let me know if I can help- Jim Aust, SO-CAL Speed Shop L.A.
I dunno but I want a 32 frame for my coupe.. I wonder how much kiwis are and how much Ionia's are.. I like the idea of putting it on a normal 32 frame instead of a pinched one for the model A, but I've seen some that look funny, Takes some skill either way I guess to make'm look great not just good. Anthony
I'm a big fan of Vapheads frames. Got one of the A frames for a customer and he was thrilled with it. Quality at a good price.
With all the good ch***is shops around, I would suggest that you make a trip to some shops in your area. Transportation of a '32 frame is not going to be cheap if you have to ship it. If you can find a builder within reasonsable driving distance you could check the quality yourself both before you order and before you make final payment and take delivery.
Bought a rolling body-ch***is Brookville with their version of '32 frame from a HAMB member who had lost interest. Not sure whether Brookville builds the frame or buys it. Fits the '31 body just right with the modifications they did when building, and workmanship is great. The frame is pinched in the front and sorta notched and stepped in at the rear right at the front of rear wheel well. Obvious though that they mostly build for automatic trans, as the under the floor clutch pedal installation involved a LOT of frame surgery that I ain't real happy about. Sorta wish I had returned that section back to it's intended design and hung an underdash set of swinging pedals. Dave
I'll have to cast a vote for the So-Cal frame. I ordered mine with a pinched nose, set up for buggy springs, hairpins, brake and clutch pedals and mounts for SBC & manual trans. Everything fit perfectly and it was clean. Very little was required to get it ready for prep and paint
Another vote for Ionia. If you've ever seen any of their products in person you'll understand why they get so much national attention for such a small shop. In this case small means personal. Quality is a home run. Frank
