i know a few people with white engines, and see a few here and there anyways... other than browning in a few places with time and heat, any other nightmares other than hard to clean? i fucking LOVE how it shows off the shiney parts hahha.. ps - for those that know me, not for my coupe have no fear haha
I've seen a few white engines and loved all of them. My original plan was a white engine and secondary color firewall, since then I've switched vice versa. I really really like the look, but I think in time I would've become lazy and it wouldnt be kept clean.
Vanilla Cream........there was a cover on the GG's a couple of years ago from the "Tardel" shop....with a coupe with a "Vanilla Cream" motor and a black coupe.......yum.
cant do vanilla cream cause of paint plans.. this is a LONG, LONG term project... but motor will be gettin paint soon, and that is the planned color so far.. road apple, hows about i get the motor all nice and white, get some speed equipment on there, and then pull it out on the engine stand in front of my coupe? time to be in church then? hahhah... your mag fucking RULES
Don't paint it powder coat it. Powder coating wont yellow last longer and will look better longer than paint also.
NASCAR test reportedly show black engines shed internal heat best & white the worse. Probably why radiators are black.
Rates right up there with fake tits. An engine block and heads would be the last thing in the world I'd want that shit on.
From a drag racing perspective I can tell you that yes, the lighter the color the easier it is to find leaks. As mentioned above, the darker color will dissipate heat quicker though.
we have done 2 BBC in white and they look bad ass but we recently did a sbc and it looks terrible... i think the sbc more ruff cast heads made it look like stucko where the BBC's had smoother aluminum heads and it looked nice
here is a picture of one, sorry its a scan so not so clear, i have more on my other computer maybe i can scavenge some.
SECOND THAT - por15 kicks ass, every product ive used from them is pretty incredible, though havent used their engine paints yet, i plan too white engine - tuff man - in a gloss black engine bay?? = POP!!
I was thinking of painting or powder coating my flat head Caterpillar yellow for my '40s inspired '31 coupe. If darker colors dissipate heat faster, then is that darker shade of yellow dark enough to do the job and look cool doing it? Moreover, are there any other disadvantages akin to that of the white or lighter colors? Does por 15 even have Caterpillar yellow?
How about House of Kolor "Silver Streak" Pearl white? Just want to add.....the nicer, and smoother you make things, the easier it is to clean them. If you do an engine compartment with "real" paint, sanded smooth, no dry spots, little orange peel, etc., it's not hard to keep up with it. Same with an engine. On this one, i ground it VERY smooth, but just doing a lightsanding, and a smooth coat of epoxy primer to help level things out, really helps a lot. I just squirt a bit of S-100 (motorcycle cleaner) on my engines, every other car wash, and it keeps them "show ready"! Very little maintenance.
I have no problem keeping my engine clean. That was also my worry, but as long as you keep up on it it's easy.
