Running through the Mental Checklist of things that need doin' to the Hackmobile has convinced me that over five months of soberiety and effort haven't gotten me very far...spending what used to be my Drinkin' Money on odd parts and supplies!

The Plan was to get the heap semi-roadworthy by Billetproof (Detroit) this June, but that won't happen, and the Drags are out, too. There comes a point when ya just gotta realize that you can aspire to Better, but you're FOOLISH to REACH for it!

(When you're near middleaged and declared "Chronically Unemployable" by Society!)

Stick to what ya know...and don't try to be somethin' you ain't, right?

Time to bite the bullet and go for what was probably inevitable from the Start. Hmmmph! A 400 small block Chevy and a straight axle...not what I wanted at ALL, but I can at least make it happen!

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I'll NEED to be drunk everyday again to swallow THAT pill...But I've had plenty of practice! [IMG]

Ya know...our Bro Sam comes off as arrogant, cold and condescending sometimes, but he makes valid points with most of his posts and the message is sinking in. Get rich or get out! I've worked all the miracles I can work with the limited means at my disposal, and I think he may be RIGHT.

(No disrespect, Man...I dig readin' your stuff. [IMG])

****...a lousy Small Block Chevy...even the GOOD small block Chevy...**** a six pack...I'm needin' me a CASE of Blatz tonight...and then it's back to bein' ME! Ha Ha!

Night Is Falling In My Heart...

your gonna feel heaps better once you got that nice sbc all nestled under the hood of your chevy Hack! [IMG]

a guy with as much knowledge and ingenuity as yourself will likely end up splitting that 400 down the middle and living your vega dream over the winter anyways [IMG]

Whaddya snivelin about? I slid a 400 [out to 406] sbc in my 50 delivery and absolutely loved it! I can't think of a better engine for your chevy. Be a real man and toss a 4 speed behind it. I know it can be done because that's what I used. If anybody bags on ya about it, ask 'em to meet you out on that long straight stretch at the end of town. Make a believer of 'em if they have the balls to run ya.
And if the looks of a mid 70s engine turns you off, follow Sam's suggestion about makin it look like an old 265/283.
Later, you can always go back to your plan of using a 2.8 litre v/6 "powerhouse" in it but I doubt you'll ever want to.
And back slowly away from the beer case... it'll just slow you down or stop ya altogether.

what motor you use shouldn't have anything to do with getting drunk.

if you must choose a new path that's one thing,

but to return to a path you already know leads nowhere needs a little more consideration.

  9. What the ****? I take 1 nap for 45 minutes and Hell has frozen over? Next thing ya know, we'll be friends with the Ruskies and the Eagles will be back together... yeesh!

What'd they serve ya at the bar you applied at? A big ol cold gl*** of "About ****ing Time!?" [IMG]

You have no Idea how happy I am right now. Sniff sniff.

I know Sam, and the last thing his posts are is condesending. What may sound abrasive to most is just good palin REALITY. Too many dreamers here TALK, and TALK and TALK about cars that NEVER get done- much less even started. What Sam, and Germ as well, talks is the truth of rod building, NOT the "aw shucks- I want one of them thar ratty rods"

It's not meant to be discouraging- but in a room full of head nodders who just say " oh wow" to all the keyboard ************ the voice of what it really takes to build a car must sound very harsh. Same thing happens anytime someone posts something positive- look how quickly that thread DIES. Say something negative and it can last for 14 pages (and counting). That post alone makes we wonder why I have been warned in the past after one post to stay ON TOPIC. Guess a public "pick-a-part party" that goes for 14 pages IS "on topic"?

On that KIRK! and I are in the designing stages of a car SO LOW that you have to sit on top of it!!! [IMG]

Drunk is not good. If you can't drink a couple beers and then stop....dont drink....go smash some golf balls or shoot some pool...learn to pinstripe...help a friend who needs a hand with their car...but don't get drunk.

  13. I couldn't care less what engine you're running. Use your skills, use your head, have a good time.

Sam might be right about the money thing. I wouldn't know, I don't have any, and I don't have any (automotive) skills, so you're up on me there.

Alcohol is a depressant. Be cool brother.

Guess I missed something [IMG] What is so expensive about using a V6, auto and the front end that is already on the car? How is an SBC and straight axle budgetarily superior?

    Uhm...

I find drinking VERY the****utic, but... I STILL rarely drink like I used to!

Sometimes stumbling blocks are merely psychological...

SO **** SELF PITY, BAD, BAD, BAD!!!!!

Remember that caddy I was gonna junk? I "****ed it up" and fixed the ****er, granted, it hasn't sold yet, but whn it eventually does, its gonna pay for a bunch of what needs to be done on my leftover special. (Am I allowed to call it a hot rod? [IMG] )

funds to be diverted to an oxy acetylene set...

So yeah, if you know you're a full-blown alcoholic, ya better just chill...

if not, for ****s sake, live a little and have a few beers!

Dude, you are a MASTER scrounger, you can pull it off, just keep your eyes and your mind open.

AND GET YOURSELF A WELDER, DAMMNIT!!!! [IMG]

    later,

Did anyone else notice that this thread hasn't had a post in it for 4 years, 4 months, and 20 days until some FNG revived it with a nothing post?

    Sheesh...
