I am working on a project that has me digging through a bunch my old stuff and found a few pictures that I never posted on the HAMB or were never used in the magazines when I worked there. I never consider myself a very good photographer compared to most everyone I ever worked with- but here's a few I do like. Excuse the blur in the garage shot. It was shot late at night- no tripod with the camera sitting on a ladder on a long exposure. The Chevy was shot at 4 in the morning in front of the Continental Club- that was a really fun night and my first trip to the Round Up- hooked for life!!! Thanks Jim
Absolutely. Nothing worse than having a great shot setup and a UPS truck or something parks right in the frame.
You're right Jim, they deserve to be faves. However, you should be severely reprimanded for your OFC effort. I ***ume it's from your 'know your enemy' file?
Thats funny. I was driving by that gas station when you guys were taking these pictures. its at that old gas station in hollywood near highland and sm blvd. right? great shots by the way.. especially the middle one in your first post.
Damn it I was really diggin the vibe and then this..... You sir should be Drawn and Quartered for that
Great Pics Jim, Jon Fishers '36 is my all time favourite, I have a whole folder on my computer dedicated to it, Beautiful car!! As far as the Choppers go, I can't think of another Club with so many great Hot Rods & Customs. A true inspitation.
I dig that Chevy. A custom, but with Cheater Slicks. Never understood THAT part of it. But, a bad*** car anyway. Saw it as far from it's Texas(?) home as Paso AND a little show called the Blessing of the Cars. Where's it at lately
There's a great story about the Chopper's "Bad News" car that Chopper member Sandy told me a while back. I hope someone that won't ruffle feathers will tell it here. It's ****ing spot on, and hilarious. Sandy?????
I always liked the idea of a show and go custom. Kinda like Jimmy Vaughn's Caddy. For me, the slicks are what makes the car.
Yeah. It belongs to Aaron Labato, it was his first car. Cheater slicks go with the fact that he built it in H.S. as a BAD *** hot rod with a built big block. It had tubs and was a serious street racer. He changed tastes and left the hot rod in his custom- like that cartoon with the hot rod taxi cab. I noticed that all these pics look fuzzy after I reduce them so they will load onto the HAMB. They were really in focus.
Sure Jim....blame the uplink! JK, For the record, I ran my Hursts on the 54 for a year or two and thought they looked killer. I got my influence from the Bill hoffman car........And Jimmie Vaughns Caddy made an impression. Aaron has good taste!
