Well this is my truck, 1962 Ford Unidbody, seems some people really dont like these trucks (some other thread) but I dig it because its mine. I was actually at the Dixie Fried in Atlanta this weekend and of coarse getting a little "what else do I want" bug and have been trying to figure out what else I want to do. I have always been a fan of the white walls so that a definite as well as more stock size rims with the spider caps and rings. If interested I will probably sell this tire and rim combo soon.
I want to go lower but Im at the lowest until I C notch it. Is that worth it. How would it affect the overall quality to start cutting? Im sure everyone ponders these questions. Also I'm trying to think of a paint scheme, or leave it liek it is. My girlfriend says keep it like it is but that purple F100 (see pic)with the flames looks nice. The woman called it "a bunch of sperm going on the sides" but she doesnt know the whole "old school" type of paint jobs and such.
Anywho I would love any feedback, thoughts, anything. As right now Im thinking White walls, red rims again, lower a little more, and maybe white scallops with a dark green outline. The current color is Seafoam Green (another part of this truck noone likes) hahahah.
Pics would be great as well.

I like your truck. I like the seafoam. White scallops would likely look nice.

I'm not a big fan of WW on these trucks. The thin whitewall on the purple truck looks better IMO.

Other than that, I wouldn't mess with it to where I could no longer use it as a truck.

yeah im still up in the air about how wide of whites but seems with the white top it may go nice. Not sure how to lay out the scallops either. I have printed a few photos out and been hand drawing them on but havent found what Im looking for. I may just leave it plain and keep the traditional look...damn decisions....

hahahahha So chop it huh olds37, damn you!!!!! I want to but....oh damn you

That pickup is pretty sweet as is. I saw it in person at the show Saturday. I started to ask you to let me get a picture of that ink on your back.

I think your truck is too new for wide whites. They were pretty much gone from the scene by '62, and old tires on a newer truck just looks wrong in most cases. Narrow whites, and some tasteful white scallops.

I'd make myself happy. Nothing basically wrong with the truck. 'course I've never driven it. Red Wheels are a bit over done. New caps and rings, or chrome lugs, etc. can refresh the look. Playing with details like that refreshed mine. Good Luck.

My dad had one when I was a kid. It was Burgandy and had faded out so it wasnt shiny anymore. this was the 80's. then him and his buddies got drunk one night and put traditional red yellow and white flames on it. I remember him getting home in the wee hours of the morning and my mom being so pissed her yelling woke up the whole neighborhood. That truck looked cool as hell though! I wonder what ever happened to it... Soo thats my vote on what to do to it. I would put thin whites on it. My 2 cents

  16. OK, first of all it's low enough - don't make a cartoon out of it, well maybe another inch. Leave the green, it's different and doesn't say look at me I have the latest fad that will soon go away. Maybe some subtle white pinstripes. I'd find another wheel color, easiest way would to start photoshoping different colors. Gold might work, maybe a dark green, don't know just try some stuff. No Wide Whites, too new a truck and too overdone.
Just my opinion and after all you asked :D

I like the way the truck is already and like some mentioned different colored wheels. I would do an ivory or off white wheel myself instead of the red or maybe even black.I have always like the Ford UniBodys.

The c-notch issue is not a bad one and really needed especially if you want to go lower or if your bottoming out right now.

Below are pics of my 72 Chevy home built actual c-notch and boxed in frame portion so its stronger.

Personally if I owned your truck I would leave the frt suspension at the height its at and lower the rear more but add taller tires which in reality keeps the truck the same height but gives it a much more hot rod look. I am not a fan of the center caps myself but they look cool......I like the more stock center caps with a painted steel wheel and beauty rings.

    72 notch

I also included a picture of late model dodge ram c-notches I install which have fully boxed rails from the factory.

i just got a 62 unibody myself,,,they are great looking trucks in my opinion,,,
id lower it via a dropped axle in front, relocate the rear on top of the springs and c notch in the rear, change the grille to a tube grille, or something chrome (headlight bezels too), white old style snap tonneau, chrome bumpers (maybe something skinnier like corvairs, etc), the color is nice as is, in my opinion,,,i might be tempted to do a pearl white roof though,,,,,,maybe some VERY subtle scallops,,,dark green fading into platinum tips, or something similar,,,,pearl white rolled and pleated interior.,,,,,,,,,,nice truck good luck with it whatever you decide to do

Why not do something interesting!!! Bring it UP a little and throw some actual mag rims or even chromies on it. Fat ole bias-ply white letters or pinner whites if goin early 60's, Meats in the back. Air shocks and shackles, Nuttin but glasspaks offa headers. Leave the body alone. Just give it a look more in tune with the era it was built instead of it's current immitation of the previous decade. An actual look it might have had at some time before the current infatuation with everything fifties!

Agree, less is more, it's cool. Add a peep mirror and call it done.

Wow...well I appreciate everyone comments and compliments on the truck. Im startting to re think the WW now but the thin whites would be nicer. I hate to say this but all of this is what my girlfriend saud...my god she couldnt have been right about this. I wont tell her cuase then I would never hear the end of that. Also that small C notch was what I was thinking since Im bottoming out but I dont want to cut the bed so thats poerfect. Well once again thanks for everything and hope to see some of you in the future. Grab me if you see this truck and we can have a beer and bulls*&%. Have good and safe weekend.

If that was mine, I'd run some aluminum slots on it with alot more tire than is there now, get a chrome grille and bumpers, and I like the earlier idea of the white cover. Oh, and put a smaller mirror on it. Just please don't primer it, I love the color.

I like it..........the Seafoam is perfect........and WW's can go on anything. It's all about stance. You gotta have the stance. C-notch it get it a little lower, and use a totally off color for the wheels, not cream or black, or even red.....something different, and slap some WW Coker's on there....You should search what colors were in Ford's repotoire in '62. Pick an actual color they used that year. Make the color last....powdercoat them.

Personally I like your truck way better than the purple truck. Only thing I'd do is change the wheel color, chrome grille, roll front pan, diamond or roll pleated seat.

Looks good now! Since you asked, I'd go with peacock blue flake to the beltline, silver below.

Nice....yeah I was thinking of the chrome bumbers and grille ahwile back...so peackock blue? I dont know the color but sounds bad ass. lol. I was already looking at ordering the color chart for 62 F100 to think of another color to maych. I think Im done with the red rims now as well. The interior is already a done deal, I think thats my christmas present. Im going white with a spider pattern etched, we will see. Well hell with all these good ideas...What should I do about my job? hahah JJ Thanks again to everyone....f-ing A man!

you should paint your wheels gunmetal grey. i think that would set off the paint for now til you change it. it'd go together instead of clash like the red.
