Gday guys, im trying to make some doors for my project, i have some after market skins (28 - 29 roadster) but have no idea how wide the overlap at the edge is between the folded edge and the frame, im guessing its about half an inch, can anyone confirm it? and is it the same on all three edges? Thanks in advance - Ross
Try the search function, this was covered a few weeks back. Im sure you can get it there with great ease. Well it was easy enough for me to even find it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285594&highlight=roadster+door
Dodgrod, Before you make a door frame check the skins for being square. I built doors for my 28-29 lakes roadster, I happen to not do the over lap, but I did find out that the skins were not square!! I used Brookville skins. Now I think that they are like the originals that Henry made which were probably not square. I happen to have made my door jams to fit the skins, well that was a real "circle jerk"!!. I think that the reason that Henry overlapped the door is that he could not make a door that would fiit flush. Measure the diagonals on the skins, my bet is that they are not the same. I ended up cutting the back edge off of the skin and making a new one that made the door square. If you look at the indent in the rear qtr panel at the door jam that is about the amount of standard over lap. I really like the doors flush plus it make the car a little longer, about an inch, so you have more room. Rex
