This show is actually a pretty big deal. It starts with a huge block party on Friday evening with bands, food, fireworks and AA Fuel Dragsters running down Main Street. Saturday was the actual show with around 3600 cars. FuelPump's buddy helps put on the show and wanted more primered/traditional type cars so the Nightmares were more than happy to oblige. Our own Kirk Hanning won an award with his awesome Cadillac powered 34 pickup. Here's some shots from both days.
A few of the guys will be there. Steve, Kirk, and I think Rich is going to try and bring Frank if he feels up to it, I have to work. Gene Brewer is the guy who sets aside the area (near the vendors) just tell them he saved you a spot.
Its raining right now so I don't know when everybody will show up. Saturday was a good time though. The HAMBers and Nightmares had a really nice bunch of cars there. This is a typical Michigan show dominated by muscle cars but they do encourage hot rods and give us a nice spot so we can all park together and showcase real hot rods.
Yep, raining here this morning when I woke up. Did not go. Looks like it's clearing up but I'm not going to bother this late in the morning. Thanks for posting the photos. Looks like Saturday was the day to go.
No pics, but I had a great time this weekend. Thanks to all for the laughs. The rain quit around 9am, and turned out to be a great day. I went today with expectations of winning the give away car, and the GM crate motor, but went home empty handed... something got messed up somewhere. Great to see the usual suspects, and to meet some new ones too. -Joe
Yes it was a great show. But on a sad note a late 60s Mustang was destroyed in a devistating 3 car after leaving the show. The news didn't give details but did say a white late model pickup ran a stop sign. I don't know how the Mustang driver faired but based on the looks of the car I'd say it doesn't look good.
That IS sad Rich, but at least the other 38,642 late 60's Mustangs that were there survived it! I had a blast as usual... any of you GMB's that didn't make it missed a helluva time. Also... to any of you guys looking for "cougars": Just throw some corpses in your car! For some reason, no woman over 35 could walk past my car without stopping to check out and photograph the bodies!
Yep, Saturday is definately the day to go - there were just under 2500 cars on Saturday, and about a third of that on Sunday ! Rainy morning didn't help, but Sunday is always way down. Of course, Friday night is not to be missed either! And I'm surprised you didn't mention the Killer Crosley altered that led the dragsters down main street !
I think there were a lot more than 2500 cars. I was registrant #3030 on Friday afternoon at 3:00. They were still registering cars at the show Saturday morning. Cars started leaving 3:00-4:00 Saturday afternoon. I didn't get into line until after 9:00 pm and it still took a half hour to get to Main Street. That's my only complaint, after 25 years you would think they could figure out a better way to get people out of the show.
Nice pictures Lucky77... I was farther back in the park and wasn't able to leave till 10:00pm, and I've never seen the lineup to leave, go that late before. Other than that I had a great time all day. Congrats Kirk on the award. Here are some more pictures of other cars besides you regulars. Your cars were to packed with spectators to get any good shots. http://www.henryjcars.com/hjc63/FAF/faf.html
Just saw a report on the accident. Three cars involved with six people taken to the hospital including two children. Pickup ran the stop sign and nailed a SUV flipping it into a black or navy blue 70 Mustang. ****s for the owners but at least nobody was killed. There was a fatal accident at that intersection earlier in the year.
Thanks for te pics Scott. I had a great time despite the Sunday morning rain. Lots of GOOD people as always and I am looking forward to next year already.
