those are easy to find too, they were big in the 70's so there are a lot of them floating around.

Yeah, I see them around but this set is real heavy spun aluminum, heftier than most. I had to do just a bit of die grinder work to get a 5 1/2" sealed beam in.
I had thought about scoops but they were too big to fit my twin carb. I do have some of those "velocity stack" light cones from recessed light fixtures. I haven't messed with them yet.
I think I will get some wing strut to make my mounts for the lights. I know where a couple bad wrecked planes are and should be able to find something.

  7. Did you put the inner bucket behind the sealed beam?
How did you plan to hold the sealed beam into the spun shell?

I f you haven't figured it out yet, weld a bolt to the back of the light bucket somehow and use a long piece of threaded rod to come out the other end. this way you can take off a nut and pop out the entire light ***embly.

I haven't got that far yet. I am thinking I might just fix them to the side of my grille shell and that wouldn't take much. Probably start out with 3-4 inches and shorten to suit my eye. I had a stack of the stuff when I left Alaska, thought an airfoil shaped floating grill in my 62 Starliner would be the nuts, sold the car and never got around to it.
I am messing with the double clamp rubber mount from my Harley lowrider to see if I can do something with that. If it can survive that vibrating pos then it can take anything.lol Or I might just epoxy the sealed beam in and bust the gl*** if I ever have to change it out.

don't use a sealed beam, get some of the conversion hella lights, then you can epoxy the light into the bucket, this will allow you to pop it out and change the bulb from the back side of the bucket, put a simple bracket on the back of each bucket like the inside of an air cleaner, and run a piece of threaded rod out the back with a nut. don't go with the cheap conversions, the hella ones have gl*** lenses and are street legal replacments.

on those hella lights they sell your size in eithier low or high beam, you just put a standard h4 combo high low beam and standard plug in there for both. they are a nice upgrade and really improve your lighting at night.

just seach hella conversion lights on the internet, you need the lamps for the four lamp system. any standard h4 bulb will fit and you can get the plug off nearly any car with composite lamps at the junkyard, most cars have h4's. hella sells the lamps for eithier the low or high beams in a four light system, the only difference is the bulb, just replace it with a high/low beam h4

I need actual measurements. My opening is roughly 5 1/2 and they call those 5 3/4

That's a pretty neat idea. That should keep the "know it all's" guessing once the car's done.

are yours standard sealed beams? they are designed to replace the same size light exactly, you are supposed to be able to take out the sealed beam and pop in the hella lamp, so i'm sure it would work.
