I decided ro slow down on the cars a lil for the weekend, and build a little piece of neighborhood paradice for me and the local kids. We have a small skatepark in my town but the city has deemed it boards only. After whinning about it for 3 years i decided to build my own ramps for boarders, bladers, BMXers and scooters to all enjoy. Thus, the junkyard ramp is born. If anyone rides, skates or rolls and wants to tour my place feel free to come on by.

  4. Nice backyard you got there JS. By the look of that new house the neighbours are building they must have told the architect " no windows on that side " .

Not to be a kill joy....seems like a great idea and a service to the community.....BUT you got deep enough pockets for a lawsuit? In todays over litagous (sp) society it would make me think twice....

Australia is a long ways from Deer park, but if you are in the neighborhood, stop by.

There have been quite a few court case in the past few years that were thrown out because of the "inherent risk" ***ociated with certain activities.
And the fact that people are aware of the inherent risk Why do you think you've been seeing a rebirth of skateparks all over the place? As long as he maintains the ramps and is not negligent he'll be fine.

And how can misspell litigious with spell check built in?

what I really want is a pink HUTCH exel.

    thats rad dude... seriously.

  21. I used to do BMX dirt jumping. My buddy had a track that went along the outside edge of his grandparents woods, about 4 acres total. There was a bobcat, a stack of rakes and shovels and you could run a hose to any part of it.
I haven't ridden in years now and all I have left is 1 old freestyle bike with no brakes.
I miss my left knee :(

thats a pretty cool thing you did, i just hope the skaters dont decide that they like your cars more than you do if you catch my drift...

  23. A waiver will not save your *** in a lawsuit for injury incurred on your property. Check it with your lawyer. I know whereoff I speak!!!

Some of the most famous trails in the world for BMX are right down the road from my house. The 401 Trails. They're on private property and have had no problems whatsoever.

And we won't even talk about the **** going on in Greenville NC. Crazy BMX stuff there.

We've gotten a lot of backyard skate spots that I frequent. No problems with anyone that has gotten hurt at these either.

Like the Crawdad Hole in my friend Robs backyard...

Don't let tails of getting h***led stop you, like I said in an earlier post if you look at what has been going on in the courts the last few years it's turning in our favor. Courts are ruling that if someone is aware of the inherent risks involved in something they are doing then they ***ume liability. But like I said you have to maintain the stuff so you're not negligent. This is how a lot of cities and towns are justifying the building of the new parks that are going up like wildfires.

  26. That's cool Jim...some day one or two of these kids might "pay it forward" and do something cool for somebody.

When I was a kid in Fort Wayne, Indiana there was an old fella named Mr. Stover and we all were welcome at his place in the winter to ride our sleds at his place and his Mrs. would often have hot chocolate for all of us...one year he carved a zig zag trail back to the top so that it would be easier than trudgin through the snow...he always kept it clear with his snowblower...as I have gotten older I realize how cool and generous that was.

Jim you are a real cool guy, not only do you build some of the best cars on here but you make time to "give back" your neighbors. Wow!!! What a great guy.
