Well, for me it's not about the trophy. It's about the $250 worth of gasoline. People ***ume that if you own a Hot Rod, you must have money, well I don't. I'm a grad student and struggling to make rent and bills each month and stay out of debt.

My dad died, that's why I have a Hot Rod. It had to stay parked for 8 months until I saved up for insurance and registration. $250 in gas would be small potatoes for some, but not for me, it would be a great help.

Many of our friends know that we scrimp to make ends meet, that's why I'm currently first in the voting for the 30's decade, they're trying to help us out.

SO, vote, don't vote, whatever, just know that this is more than a trophy for me.

EXACTLY why I want it. First of all there is no trophy. You get FREE gas and a drawing of your car. If I could get both of those things without having to "win" a contest I'd do it.

I couldn't give a **** less what Texaco thinks of my car.

Voted for all the HAMB entries. Kirk, that Starliner is over the top! Damn what a great looking kustom.

I had an invite from Texaco to add one of mine, but I never followed through with it. Probably would not have won anything, but gas money would have been ideal. $250 would be about 70 gallons of gas and for my Olds that would get me about 420 miles. Some good cruising.:D

KIRK!, hey, I was telling a painter freind about the Starliner, and tried to find pictures here to send him a link.

Where the hell did they go?

All I get is unavailible notices. the threads are there, the pics are gone:mad:

I agree, but at any given time I am paying to host about 250-300 megs so I can't keep them all. I still have them around if there is something specific you're looking for.

Yeah, I was looking to show some more detail of the lace, finished. Maybe you could put a small album up in the profile? A couple of pics would do.

    Thanks, Frank

I've been a HAMB member a little over a year and the other day when I saw this I thought what the heck.
So I entered because I thought the HAMB was putting out a call to help a buddy. If the HAMB reccomends it, it must be run right.
Several folks have been on here asking for votes and it seems to have stirred up a hornets nest of mixed opinions. So if you chose to vote for my ride, do it because you like the design, the fab work, the engineering, the Ford in a Ford, or whatever else it is about the car that lights your fire. If it's not up your alley, I understand, I built it to please me, not the m***es.

Back up for all the Hambers and a shameless plug for a 47 convert too. I threw my car into the mix when Ryan mentioned it.

Can't possibly let a Chevrolet Impala or a BMW run away with this thing.:(

Stude! I missed your ride the first time around, but I have redeemed myself and was able to find several votes for your car.

That cool old wagon is rocking my vote too...

Looks like the Nova and the Mustangs have figured out how to stuff the ballot box as well.

It's also a shame that Ryans car doesn't have more votes.

Thanks! And with only 1 day to go, my 51 Studebaker is on the move and is now in 11th place with a rating of 58. Now all I have to do is find someone who can make up the 5,142 points, or whatever they call them, that I'm behind that Buick wagon.

My poor old 60 Oldsmobile is dragging in 39th place but I'm only 4,938 points behind the leading 6 banger Mustang so maybe I have a better chance at winning this decade.

Thanks again for your vote(s). Maybe I'll do better next year.

    Bill

PS: Oh yeah, I just remembered......

I won't be entering this contest next year, even if Ryan requests it.

I entered this because I need the gas $. Not want, NEED. I'm super-thrilled that two Goldchainers are stuffing the **** out of the ballot in the 30's decade. Oh well.

Someone once said "What's your integrity worth?" Mine's worth alot more than $250.

Don't dust off that trophy shelf just yet gentlemen, read the Contest Rules carefully. Due to the very sudden and dramatic up rise in "ranking" points both Gas Pumper and 32 Hi Boy, at the discretion of Chevron the Chief Sponsor, may be disqualified for their obvious and very non subtle over-use of phantom email addresses. Subtle would have been using just enough to squeak by, not 7900+ for Mr. Hi Boy and approximately 6700 for Mr. Gas Pumper. The rules state that the next eligible entry will be awarded as Decade Winner. All that for $250 in gas and a drawing? How much time did it take you any way to register and vote over 790 times? In under 6 hours no less. Now that's impressive and I thought the idiot with the '92 Buick Roadmaster was pathetic. Your Waco buddy with the two Mustangs will only win one, if any, and they may give the decade to the second place Nova or Charger, also both owned by the same party. I am sure everyone was guilty of using a few email addresses generated for the sole purpose to gain points but 7900+? What were you worried about anyways? Cars look great though, give me an old fashioned hand ballot any day. Guess we will all find out on October 30 while Texaco "validates" the Decade Winners. Be safe boys, be safe.
