I have been looking for a 53 54 wagon project for a few years now. A long roof thread on the Hamb got me all fired up and I pulled the trigger. Yesterday I get a call from a buddy " are you still looking for a wagon? I know of a guy that knows a guy that his father inlaw has a wagon in his back yard" Next thing you know I am wenching My dream car on the trailer. She is a little rough but perfect for all of the evil plans I have for her.
My vision is to chop and drop the old girl. 4" on the roof and lay the frame on the ground, on air suspension I hope. I picked up a s-10 rolling frame to maybe use. Need to eye ball it some more before I go that route. The car has only been in Michigan 5 or so years. The guy i got it from brought it up from the show me state . Lots of metal work to keep me warm this winter. I plan to at least to have rolling with new suspension and the body in primer in the spring.
Congrats on the '54 longroof. Why do you need to swap ch***is, is yours rusty? I hope you don't have as much metal work to do as I did on my '53 wagon. Here's the build thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279517
Welcome to the HAMB, good luck with your project. I'll be pulling a '54 Two Door home soon to partout, way past saving.
Thanks for the link Wayfarer . I have alot of metal work. The p***enger side is beat up. Sitting in that field with the p***. side next to the road. Had a few tractor hits over the years. I got it in the air and the frame is not bad. I plan to tear into next week. This weekend off to the k-zoo hot rod show here in Michigan.
nice find, looks how mine did when i got it. id have to agree with wayfarer, the frame it has is much styronger than that of an s-10. its already boxed and everything. but either way keep us posted!
If you need it, I have this laying around: It's an old patch panel for the rocker of a '53-'54 four door. That's just surface rust from sitting on a shelf forever.
