I bought 4 smoothie steels from them - primered - threw em to the powdercoaters - and then had the tires mounted, 1 was so warped it couldnt be used - went back to them and they TRIED to tellme I should have checked fitment before sending to powdercoater - whoa, wait - I didnt ***** about fitment, I told them I didnt realize I was supposed to verify new rims were true prior to powdercoating - in the end they sent me a new rim after a few weeks of bithcing, but I still have to get it powdercoated - I thought that was lame that they wouldnt compensate me for that - but i do see they have done much more good than evil for the hobby

point being **** happens, but its what gets done to resolve - i work for a distribution companuy (unrelated to hobby) but **** does happen - in the end Coker repsolved my prob, but some times it takes persistence when dealing with a very popular (and Imsure busy as hell) vendor.

holy ****, guess i shoulda read this ****storm before chiming in - the originator shouldnt be condmened for voicing a problem and concern - curious why this such a sensitive topic - being honest here - im still far too new to realize history - almost seems like : dont dare voice concerns over affiliates (not directing at Coker, just the a***tudes after the first post)

  5. I totally agree. IF the man has tried dealing with Coker for 10 months, and IF they haven't resolved it, posting here where he does business is a sure fire way to at least get a response. However, IF it turns out to be BS, I think he should be banned.

If the Hamb ever just becomes a place to post *** kissing comments without occasional negatives (IF they are true), it will lose any/all credibility.

What does the amount of posts have to do with anything? Some folks talk and some just listen. Subs***ute type and read if you like.

I'm almost out of popcorn after reading this! Bottom line: Jess from Coker chimed in and offered to resolve any problems in billing there may be. Coker is just as stand up as they always have been. As they get more popular, and more products are being shipped...the odds of a screw up every now and then increases. Its no big deal...it happens....and they'll resolve it!

I've purchased a set of Cokers for almost every car I've built or bought. I will always look to Coker as a first choice. They have the best and most period correct products out there. And you can't beat the price...especially with an Alliance Membership. A set of bias ply's was the first thing I bought when I became an Alliance Member. Up until I was laid off, I had an Alliance Membership. If I could afford to have one again...it would be a no brainer....even just to support the HAMB. I've leeched enough free knowledge from here to justify the $50 a year. Its well worth it just to keep this place running.

Bottom line....they're offering to remedy the situation. And if you've been on here long enough, then you should know by now that Corky is a member here...and is on here regularly. Maybe a PM to him directly would have been a better choice, instead of starting a ****storm over a company that has cemented its sterling reputation in the hot rod community.

I would personally like to send out a thank you to jess hoodenpyle at coker tire. He was the first guy at coker that actually had the power to refund my money as i was talking to him on the phone. Its amazing how simply it was to fix once i got the right guy on the phone. Now that it is all solved, i would like to address some comments. It doesnt matter how old you are, or how many posts you have, the bottom line is i had a problem, and took it to a public forum, and finally it got solved. I am 28 years old, and have owned over a 100 cars, and have bought plenty of tires from coker, and i am about to order a new set of radials for my coupe, so i have no hard feelings toward coker, they are a great company, i just wanted to get my shipping charges refunded. Its that simple. Thanks to the hamb, i got it solved. Thanks again.

How do you go about getting the Alliance discount? I went to the Coker trailer at Springfield last weekend and priced a set of Firestones for the front of my Dodge, I told him I was an Alliance member and the price didn't change. They didn't have any with them so I p***ed, not wanting to screw around with shipping. I guess I'll wait till the Spring Cars n Parts meet.

I don't know if they offer an Alliance discount when they're selling at shows and swaps, but if you place an order over the phone....you just simply tell them you're an Alliance member on the HAMB and they give you your discount right there on the spot. Saved me a huge chunk of cash.

The discount from Coker equates to the free shipping. That's probably why there was no discount at a show.

I got a discount on my front tires when I bought them at the Springfield Cars & Parts swap meet last summer. Saved me about $25 on the pair.

I've bought 3 or 4 sets of tires from Coker with no problems at all. But then again I've also bought a few set from Diamondback with no problems. Mistakes do happen with any company however. Its how the buyer handles it that usually determines how well and how quickly it is resolved.

Amen to that. As proof and not trying to hijack this but this could help anyone who has trouble with an order. One my second trip to Cali in '06, I was booked on American and they had the entire flight canceled, all three legs. I was to leave Saturday morning and really didn't need to be in Cali until Monday morning. I told the ticket agent that as long as she got me out there by then I would be happy. She saw that I was upset but not letting that effect how I was handling the situation. During this time, she went to United to get me a flight. I joked about getting 'a little something' for being patient. When she came back with my tickets, she explained what she was able to get and then pointed out that my seat number was 3A, that's right, FIRST CL***.

Once I got to Chicago, me and 63 others got bumped off the flight due to some electrical problem and they swapped the plane out for a smaller jet. In the precess of getting onto that other plane, I again remaind outwardly calm while I was a bit steamed inside. After all, who likes to wait? While at the counter, I was joking with this agent. At the same time there was a guy standing next to me in the same situation cussing and swearing and all but calling his agent a *****. While I was joking with my agent, I asked mer if she treated people according to how she was treated. She said most of the time there was no reason to, but sometime yes. At this point she handed me a voucher. I asked her what it was for. She said that it was for one round trip coach seat, anywhere in the conitnental US. She went on to say that it for being so understanding. I know the guy next to me heard this becase his tone changed instantly. But it was too late as his agent had already finished.

The message that I came way with TWICE I one day is to treat those that you want something from like gold and you'll get it. Speedway is one company is like this. The last thing I got from them had a broken quick release pin. I called them and politely explained this to them and I had on express-shipped out for free and I had it in no time. With appoligies on the phone and a hand written appoligy in the box. That's service. If you don't get that kind of service, it might not be the fault of the company you're calling.

AMEN Vance! Anytime you immediately resort to cussing out someone in customer service....I'm sure they will go out of their way to make sure you wait as long as humanly possible to get anything resolved.

Thanks for letting this guy speak. Even with all the negative comments and ********, if you cant voice your opinions and ask for advice the forum really isnt a forum.

Actually, the discount is usually way more aggressive than free shipping.

Vance you make a good point, and it seems that 32rustedinpieces handled this situation along the same lines.
However, 10 months is a long time to get an issue resolved. Think if he didn't know about the HAMB, he'd still be out the 200 bucks plus interest. Maybe that isn't a lot of money to some people but to others it is. I think that there needs to be an internal follow up as to whom dropped the ball as it were.

Which leads me to my point, being cordial to customer service is a good way to approach a situation, but that is THIER JOB, to be custoemr service. Nothing irratates me more then some one who is suppose to deal with customers but clearly doesn't want to in the worst way.
If he was owed the money, it should have been made right, the first time. I'm not just saying this about Coker, it's more of a general way I'd like to see buisness's run and where I'd spend my money.

well said,,,if only people talked to each other like they were face to face, this place wouldn't have a persistant negative vibe

glad to see Coker resolved the issue. Obviously, the post ***isted in the outcome. The "outrage" towards 32rustedinpiece and lack of respect, almost name calling, towards him for asking for help and understanding from other HAMB members offers me great concern. WOW. It got to the point of suggesting he be banned from the site if this proved to be BS!!!! I am disappointed. And you "old guys"...shame on you for looking down on a supposed newbie and his lack of posts. Weren't you in that position some years back? I'm impressed with 32rustedinpiece for remaining calm and for setting the record straight regarding his experience. Judging from his character towards all who criticized him, I would speculate he was courtious and respectful towards Coker customer service.
