i would have killed for a job like this about four years ago.....want an ASE mecahnic from indiana with a beard and a pudgy belly?
shame you guys are in the states mmm wonder if i could persuade the Fiance to move over there and get you guys to sponsor me
No we won't sponsor visa's. Yes we will consider hiring people with more experience, ASE certified is good by me as long as you can handle a real car, some of those guys just want to know where to plug in the computer to tell them what part to replace. If you are interested and have more experience; send me a note, we'll pay what you are worth. If you need/want to move for this job, we'll wait for the right person but we won't pay moving expenses. One other interesting piece of info, we are building a new 6,000 sqft shop that is fully air conditioned, we are moving into it next month.
I've gotten some emails with variations of the following questions: What benefits do you provide? What is the pay? What is the Wylie, TX area like? So here goes the answer: Pay is based on experience, someone straight out of high school will get a little over minimum wage and the requirement to go to school, someone with some years of experience and proven track records can make enough in base salary to support a family. We don't offer insurance benefits it's just not possible for a company our size, what we do offer: - Compe***ive pay, 40 hours paid not just billed hours - Commission on business you sell or projects you manage - Paid vacation - Paid holidays - Tuition reimbur*****t - Flexible work hours - 1 day a year the whole shop (that means everyone that works there and all tools) will work on your project Wylie is a great place to live, good school district, no state income tax, low cost of housing, not impacted by the current downturn (we have almost no unemployment) and there is a lot of construction going on.
We hired someone for the Shop ***istant position.. She (yes you read that right) is starting on Thursday. We still have an open position for a more experienced restoration mechanic, so if anyone has some experience with cl***ics, rebuilds, mechanics and the likes drop us a line. We received some responses through the HAMB of some excellent candidates for this position. Our team currently has: - Shop foreman/Restoration Mechanic - Restoration Mechanic - Sr. Mechanic (ASE Master with 25+ years) - Sr. Fabricator - Shop ***istant/Parts runner
Man I would love to talk with you all. I am currently around the Fort worth area , I work for a shop that does pre-72 restorations. As of right now things are slowing down here so much I might be forced to go somewhere else. If you haven't hired anyone please let me know. THanks.
To be brutally honest I work in an industry that competes for a similar skilset and we have a hard time hiring wrench-talented guys right out of high school for $20/hr with benefits. The value of those guys to industrial manufacturing has skyrocketed over the last decade, and I dunno how small auto business owners are ever going to find good help without going bankrupt. Good luck with your search, hope some car crazy kid finds his/her dream.
Last time we posted this job we received 50+ responses, many dreamers but at least a dozen qualified people. We pay from $8.50+tuition reimbur*****t to $12.50+commission an hour for the shop ***istant and have no problem finding people. For the experienced mechanic position we get about 20 good applicants, fabricators are harder to find but we still got a few very qualified people. All of them with reasonable salary expectations that fit in our budget. I wouldn't think of paying a high school kid $20/hr with benefits for basic mechanic skills, you are right they are not worth that much and we can't afford that. More experienced people seem to be easier to find, work harder and are more realistic about pay scale.
