Wow, that's inspiring. I've been thinking of doing a modified next. It seems like there have been more of them showing up on here lately, or maybe it's just me because I am thinking about one. Your car is beautiful. Glad you get to drive it now.

Dirt T, the wheels are from Wheelsmith and are a 5 on 4.5 or 5 on 4.75, dual bolt patterns.

Al, I was just thinking about an E brake and your line lock idea is perfect! I'm going to give it a try. THANKS for the great idea!

Scooter, My son and I are planning to drive her down for the Roadster Show in June. I've got your number I will give you a call.

Rex, I reviewed all your posts on the modified. It is a very impressive machine. You haven't mentioned the steering effort, but just in case. My special uses an old Schroeder champ car box that is 9:1 according to Schroeder. Installed in my car at a dead stop I could barely turn the wheels at all using a 17 inch steering wheel. I sent it back to them for a rebuild and to add their doubler. It's now 18:1 and the steering is very reasonable. I built a U-joint mounted mechanical emergency brake for mine. It works very well. Someone asked for pictures which I hope to be able to provide sometime soon. Just another idea in case the line lock doesn't cut it.

Wow! You nailed the stance. Nothing better than getting the first ride after you have spent all that time.

Lakester 47, you are right about the steering effort, my Schroder is a 9:1 also and I shortened the steering arm and made the arm on the spindle pretty long just to try to get some more ratio. Not bad driving but not something I'm looking forward to parallel park either!

Your E brake on the U joint, it that the one from the T guys back east, Total Performance? Or did you do it your self, which is probably how I would do it too.

    Rex,

My E brake is a home made deal. I had a friend with a lathe build a rotor and face off the back side of the U-joint yoke to mount it. I bought a mechanical mini bike caliper and cable brand new off Ebay for cheap, found a handle I liked and built a braket off my panhard rod mount. On a light car like ours are it works pretty good. Interestingly enough a friend of mine was restoring a 1937 US Army scout car. That thing had virtualy an identical setup way back in 1937. The only difference was they used soild rod linkage instead of the cable.

I like your car. You nailed the modified look for sure. I've been thinking about 18 inch rears for mine. Keep the pics coming you're a talented builder.
