here's a few pictures of my current project, a 1947 diamond t 614, salvaged from a quarry in eastern washington. it used to haul caterpillar tractors. i used a 52 chevy 1 ton frame, 87 chevy 1/2T crossmember and suspension, narrowed a bit, 350/700R4, PS/PB. the box is pretty much done. the rear fenders are modified fronts. still have to DP the bed after disassembly and wire it. the red one is a 48 201. also have a 38 404 in the wings for another pickup project. that's the one on the trailer, just hauled in from south dakota. last year of the short windshield. love those long noses. the red one on the hill is my inspiration for the current project. owned by bob askins in illinios. he was kind enough to send me pictures of his build. if you go to diamondtclassics.com and click on "our member's trucks, you can see several more pics of this project as well as other's ideas, stock and modded. http://www.diamondtclassics.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index
lets see some other DT projects.

Man, that's cool. The proportions of the finished truck and the original wheels really work together.

Your Diamond T really looks great! They were the 'Cadillac' of big trucks back in the day... full chrome hubcaps, nice dash, etc...

the early deluxe has the best dash. the 38 404, and the 48 614 project dashes. had to update the 48 to SW gauges for obvious reasons. where can i get a short 5" SW bezel for the speedo so it matches the other gauges? that's all SW has now.

I like the looks of the cab......all you would have to do is section the cab and it would look slick. There was one I had spotted, but the guy wanted to keep it.....now he's dead,....... really!

  13. Are you that Porsche guy up on Greenwood that has the shop open during the car show? I remember seeing the eastern Washington truck down on Rainer a while back and I know I recognize the other red one too. You've got some really cool stuff.

I've always wanted a Diamond T. My sick fantasy is a mid/late 50's BIG long wheelbase western truck, like a 931DFN, with a supercharged Cummins and two stick gearbox. probably will always be just a dream.

MAN...those are some fine lookin' Trucks!
I would have one of those if one came along, without any hesitation at all.
The only one I ever saw locally was just a battered cab in a gravel pit. Until you see the whole truck you can't appreciate it fully.

They're like "Beauty AND the BEAST" all rolled into one!!! :D

very cool T, i have a hood ornament that looks like yours, the top end piece is broke off but i like it a cool piece. My uncle worked at Diamond T in Chicago got a lot of the Diamond emblems years ago there long gone now, you lit a fire up i'll have to try to find that Diamond T i spotted a few years ago very solid. Thanks for stirring my memory That T would put a lot of new trucks to shame, super cool T

Those are pretty cool. Never thought of one as a rod.

PS: Didn't White get bought by Freightliner and then ended up under Volvo?

  19. I gotta be the biggest dumbass in the US. I let my 47 Diamond T go at an auction I held when my dad passed away. I couldn't devise a plan to get it from northern Oregon to Nebraska. All I had to transport it was my V/8 astro van with a trailer hitch.
After I auctioned off my dad's old tandem axle camper trailer [with a rotted floor] it dawned on me [on the ride home to Nebraska] that I could have knocked the camper junk off it's frame and used it as a car trailer to haul my Diamond T sheetmetal home! DOH!
And I let it go for scrap price....with a good title.
I'll never stop kickin my own ass for that stunt.
I was gonna build a kick-ass slammed pickup truck from it.....
    What a fuckin idiot.

I bought my late 40s 509 twin screw 10 wheel straight job in 1989. Sold it in 1998 as a nearly done project. Kicked myself for selling it ever since.

Looked for it for the last 4 years sort of.

    Always rustfree and 25K miles.

I FOUND it late June by asking a guy at a truck show who was wearing a D T shirt & hat. He said he was good friends with the owner and it was up for sale word of mouth. The owner was happy I wanted it back, sold it for cost, and had his driver deliver it on Aug 8th of this year. Been through two owners since I sold it, but it's been in heated storage in a big collectors shop.

Here it is buried in his shop. The grey one.

get that 80 while you're at it.

  25. Man, don't beat yourself over that truck, lot of shit going on for you at that time. Worse than that was the disappearance of your Dad's Model A truck. While running recon after the theft I did spot an old chain drive MACK not far from your dad's place. Up by Dufur. Will have to visit my pal George in Maupin and see if we can find it.

Your trucks look great. I can't say much about Diamonds but I know where there is a pristene 1937 Federal cab and chassis if anyone's interested...

  29. While you're up there ask if Gene Ash [local gravel company] still has the Diamond T. It's titled in my name. I'd drive back there to get it.

  30. I'll give George a call this weekend and have him check it out.
