67 Belvederes Satelites, GTX's have same body in 2 door Hardtop

The gtx's are 440 or Hemi powered

Trim package on the two is very ,very close

Taillights have very expensive thin moldings over them. Twin scoops of course. No body side moldings on the GTX. HD suspensions and of course the special 440 with the rare closed chamber heads.

pretty much it. It's like the difference between an RS Camaro and a Z/28, just trim and power options. Either of which, of course, would be looking at the tailights of a GTX.:D

    Thats about it...

  7. Thanks....I thought this was the case of basically power train and badging

    and speedo.....

When I was 15...I am now 53....I was on a pit crew of a 1967 GTX owned by

( are You sitting down ? ) ...Our parrish priest.....so We would do the M***

and change into Our race team uniforms and go to the drag strips at

Beardstown, ILL on Sunday p.m. ....and on Tuesday nights.....White Hall Drag

O Way in White Hall, Illinois and then up to Keokuk, Iowa to Lee County

DragWay.....then of course down to the old GateWay DragWay in St Louis

    area.....

So as a teenager this was REALLY BIG STUFF ! We ran a 440 wedge motor

with a Weiand tunnel ram with two fours.....the ****** headers....the

Firestone Drag 500's with ladder bars..... of course the bullitt proof

big 9 3/4 Dana rear end put up with the Chapmans Traction Compound

    which was rejected Pepsi syrup.....

So yeah We had fun......more fun than should be legal !

And what was the slogan on the back of the 1967 GTX Super Stocker ?

Flip Wilson's - " The Devil Made Me Do It ! " I was a little nervous someone

fron the archdioscese was going see this and turn Us in ! LOL !

I could write a book about these days.....of drag racing....and doing religous

duties......loved every minute of it !

When Fred Gibb ( the Father of the 1969 ZL-1 Camaro ) asked if Our owner

and driver to drive for Him nationally.....

( what a compliment ...see www.fredgibb.com ) .....things were always kept

    in perspective....just the same.....

Your tips and private messages are sincerely appreciated !

Quick story a**** many...one night the truck We carried the GTX Super

    Stocker on...broke down....

So rather than leave the race car out there.....We drove it off the hauler and

fired it up...without lights except for dim flashlights....We drove the race car

about 15 miles ...open headers...slicks.....to a friends 1 car garage and

put the GTX Super Stocker inside for the night !

Reminds Me of the days when Jack Briggs would when the $ 100 top prize in

His 1964 Plymouth Fury Hemi Alumum Fendered Lightweight ....then drive it

50 miles open headers with slicks back to Quincy Illinois from Kahoka's Tri

State DragWay in Missouri to the Quincy Trading Post dealership.....

Those were the days ! What a KICK !

    That's a cool story, 65 S/FX!
I love the 67's. The guy I bought my Es*** from has a 67 Belvedere II that he's had since 1976. It was his first car, and I spent alot of time cruising around in it with him in the late 70's. He still has the car, but now it's a dead-perfect GTX clone.

If you are talking comparisons between Hemi to Hemi and / or 440 to 440 then the body structure will be the same, however, there are differences between Hemi and wedge cars.
My 67 Hemi GTX was one of the few made, and of course I sold it (1990)about 2 years and $60k too soon...:(

Don't feel bad, 77RR, My Dad and I had a '67 GTX 440 auto we used to trailer our '67 Hemi Four speed car to the track. We had no idea they made so few of them, to us it was a turd because we were used to running a max wedge car and then a hemi 990 car, but we sold them and got this GTX, which did not compare to a factory S/S. Long story short, we worked hard to get it near the record and aboout that time Chrysler boycott pro stock and one of the factory drivers bombed the record by like a second and a half! About that time NHRA was changing all the cl*** structures so Chevy could win some races, and it all became one big bracket race. We quit, sold the GTX, street legal but with full race street hemi and less than 4000 miles, for 3 grand.

  13. Should we start an import/Honda thread now?

  14. Sure, How much of a pain in the *** is changing the clutch in a 93 Mazda LX ganna be? I have to do one pretty soon.
