I just moved here from Ohio about a month ago. My intent was to find a job on a race team, but I havent had any luck yet. Im an Engine builder, Fabricator, TIG Welder, Machinist, and Mechanic. Seems that money is tight right now for most of the teams so im kinda left hanging. Anybody know of any cool shops, maybe a factory, or anything that may be interested in givng me a chance? Im very mechanically inclined and work very hard at whatever I do. I have never had this much trouble finding a job.

Other than that I love it here, its kind of hard to get away from civilization but the weather rocks.

If you think you might know someone that may be interested, I can email you my resume.

Thanks in advance for any help. I really appreciate it.

  4. Good luck...we are trying to relocate from here in San Diego to Mooresville...The whole Charlotte area is nice and alot of nice people...my buddy is doing structural steel in downtown Charlotte and they are super busy...I know it's not car related but if you can weld and follow a blueprint you might check into it as there is alot of big commercial building going on back there.

It can be hard to get on with a race team. You about have to know someone, regardless of talent. Might do better with a rod shop, or some of the other places, like already mentioned.

Thought I'd mention there is 1-2 4x4 places on South Blvd, not sure if they are just the bolt-on types of places, or if they do fabrication.

Try here. GREAT folks, EXPANDING big time. If I didn't love my friends and family in Detroit so much I'd be living in Charlotte and working for them.:D

Thank you guys very much for your help I really appreciate it. I had a feeling that you might be able to help.

I also forgot to mention that I have an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a major of High Performance Technology. Not sure if that helps or not.

RedHumphries, I will be in contact with you.

That dirt is true! This economy is making even the best places treat good employees like shit! Oh, and I will speak for the rest of Charlotte. We will all welcome you with open arms Denise. It appears things are a bit cooler whenever you're around.:D

Oh and I'm not even in the related field but I can confirm that Good jobs are hard to come by in Charlotte. It's not that jobs are not there, it's that there is so much competition that everyone is clawing for open positions. It seems that the Bar is raised a bit here and everyone has to be on their "A" game otherwise you get clipped or passed over. Be patient, something is bound show up.

I have to call bullshit on that.
In no way shape or form does the economy have anything to do with that. It may seem to be more prevalent in bad times but it is not the cause. And I am a card carrying asshole, just ask my friends, but I try to treat my employees as good as I can. They are the best asset you have when running a business. A bad economy is just a cop out for someone who would have treated their employees like that in the first place....

    Rant over......
