Well it was a fun ride last night to say the least I hope everyone else here made it ok. Here are a couple of pics the winds are still to strong to brave taking the camera out in it so these are from our second and first floor garages. Supposedly all the windows are blown out of the east side of our highrise(good thing we didnt go for the pool view) I pulled the van out of the basement before the power went out and parked it in general population and the basement isnt flooded as bad as the second floor of the parking deck. Hope everyone south of us faired as well as we did, but I can only imagine how bad it could have been. Hit us up if you need anything brothers we are near the med center 336/225/4398

Glad to hear you're making it okay.

Is it just me, or is that peach colored building leaning to one side?

  3. I surived Carla, Beula, Alicia and others. Being without 'tricity is one of the worst things about the storm. Oh and the gas price rapings.

I think that's why we have hurricanes in Texas...tough SOB's here.

Love the "Vair wagon/ Now that is really diffrent. It'd make a great stripin' wagon.

I was thinkingthe same thing, but it looks okay in the 2nd pic? Might just be the camera angle.

  5. Thanks for the pics, anyone else have storm pics?

I hope everyone is safe. I'm headed that way when they give the word. The last time I went on a relief mission it was to Hurricane Andrew, it was heartbreaking. :(

I was AD Army for Andrew.

Haleluya! Just heard from my boy, he lives in Katy. He lost a few shingles, got no water or electric but no one's hurt. He said about 3 am, the wind got really fierce and part of his privacy fence got flattened.
Hope all you Texas HAMBers make it through OK.

Well I made a short trip out of the house in the rain after helping clea out the drains on the parking deck. If you know houston there s a canal that runs all the way around it thats normally just a couple feet deep here are some pics of it and the rest of these pics are all within one block of the house I guess we cant complain the top floor of the neighboring mid rise had there roof collapse in places

Here is our dog Kustom trying to clear the street

we got hit pretty good. I will try and post pics later. We are up on the northwest side. Sitting on 10 acres, lots of old 100+ year old oak trees. We lost about a 1/4 of them probably. We have 6 structure on the property, 2 houses, 3 shops full of cars and a barn. The bodyshop has some tin on the roof flapping around, and the barn has some small trees laying on the roof. Other than that all of the oaks missed the houses. I feel very, very lucky. It looks like an absolute war zone though. We can't get down our drive way because we have power lines laying everywhere, and a 4 foot diameter oak laying perfectly in the way. I am just waiting for the rain to stop so I can go fire up the chain saw and start clearing paths.
    Thanks IKE...

  18. save that Oak and find someone with a portable sawmill later! Sounds like you have room to store a few logs?

Hey Acrochicken, from your pics it looks like we're in the same area. I'm on the
other side of Herman Park. Glad to see you're OK. We just came back from a tour of the area, for the most part just alot of downed trees. My shop had 5" of water, but is still standing. I'll post pics later, batterys are running low.

  20. If you see a pinzguaer roaming around its my buddy Adam and his guys. :) They have been going around to all their friends places and cutting up the downed trees and moving them out. Pics to come soon..

Glad you survived the mean old hurricane acrochicken. I have lots of wind and rain north of you in Emory Texas. It looks like the worst of it will just about be over in the next hour or so. Galveston looks like a mess on the news. I just don't understand why people stay when the federal government takes the time to get on TV and tell them they will die if they stay. Now we have the largest search and rescue operation in Texas history due to some folks worried about their "stuff."

I've been through hurricanes, and I've been through a divorce. I came out with more "stuff" after the hurricane.

Survived my first Hurricane. Have been without power since 6pm Friday. Luckily the tree in our front yard fell away from the house when it broke. Working on a generator to keep the refrigerators going. Bought the last generator in O'Reilly's Friday, it lasted 4 hours saturday and then packed up. Was a chinese copy of a Japenses model. The rocker arm had fallen off of the intake valve. Fixed it again yesterday.

Went to San Leon/Baycliff area yesterday as Mother in Laws fiancee has a house on the Bay down there. His house was still standing, the garage was a mess though, looks like he has about a 6ft storm surge. He's 85 and his collection of tools are completely ruined.

Did see a rod workshop on I believe 146 had a couple of 50's pickups parked outside. Are they on the Hamb?
