Is it possible to straighten welded spoke wire wheels?(from a model A) If so please explain how. 54chop
Is the spoke bent or the rim? I made an attachment for a slide hammer that goes under the spoke. A couple of slides usally does it. If you need another wheel let me know which wire wheel do you need 19" or 21"
It's the rim that's bent. Unfortunately the wheel is painted and has new tires mounted. Put them on the car and spun this wheel by hand just to adjust the front brakes and finally noticed it's way out of true. Looks as though 2 of the angled spokes broke loose long ago from the hub(near the cap) and were welded back on. At he other end of those two spokes is where the wheel wobbles badly. If they could be adjusted, those 2 spokes would need to be shortened. 54chop
Are you using the wire wheels on hydraulic brake drums. A support ring is needed so that the wheel will be straight when tightened. I thought I had bent wheels untill I discovered this. I used to make the support rings. They are available from other sources. I did have the wheels straightened at a shop in Houston before I found the real problem. Maybe your wheels are better than you think and will be OK. I hope so.
