Bout time to buy new tires for the ol sled. Got G78's on her now with a 2 3/4" whitewall. Thinking about going to a 4" whitewall.

What size of whitewalls were common on a 50's kustom back in the day????

Here she is in all here glory... can someone photoshop her with some 4"

The size you have now looks right...4" will be extreme. $.02

Four inch were 1940's whitewalls...2 3/4" is right for your car...

3" is the max. It looks fantastic the way it is. Don't you feel better now that we saved you all that money?

I think the 2 3/4's look top notch!! I've got my Cokers ordered for the DeSoto, the 4" looks ok, but maybe a bit too much.
By the way....that is one awesome ride there mate!

 When white walls are to thick they look stranger...........The big 4" whites look good on old cl***ic cars like Packard. Cord Buick etc. The 2 3/4 looks just right on our ride keep that way. I put 3 1/4 Diamondbacks on my '49 Caddy and they look right, it's a big car, size matters you know.......Good luck with your choice.

Put some skirts on the back and the 4" will look just about right. I think.

4 in. makes the car look " bottom heavy" like it's "ALL tires." Not good

How about some dual 3/8" lines, or perhaps three 3/8" lines to go with your 3 bars in the grill for example. Then again, maybe 3 thin lines is pushing it.
Or maybe I'm thinking "too '60s" here.

Leave the tires....but that car neeeeds a B pillar.

  22. 4" ww's look sick, do it unless the tires are too big.

  23. Ideal time for this thread to surface...I was about to order 4inch wide white's for the '51, but seeing this has made me reconsider, it has (very) old 2 1/2 inch whites on it, I will likely go with the same now...

Stay with the 2 3/4, 4's would be too big.

I don't think they look too bad on this early 50's kustom. 6.70x15 with 4 1/4 white
