My friend Drew [we'll call him Drewshbag] just traded 10 lobsters for this running 67 2 door cutl***!
Back in the late 60's I traded a 40 ford coupe, SBC, 4 speed, black with flames for a down payment on a house. The guy wanted 30K for the house, I ground him to 27.5 and he gave me 10K trade on the coupe.Went to the bank and borrowed the 17.5 and had a payment of 131.00 a month. Great thing is, the deal was in So-cal and sold the house 8 years later for $100K Nice little profit, and no way in hell was that 40 worth 100k That deal kinda got me goin in life
In 1962 I trades a single shot Cooey .22 rifle and 2 packs of cigarettes for a 1932 Durant roadster!!!
In 1969, my dad traded a 650 Bonneville dirt bike for a 34 Ford 3 window. A couple of years later he traded the 3 window, plus extra sheetmetal he collected, for a 34 Chevrolet 4 door sedan project so he could haul the kids around. At age of 35, I am the youngest and he still hasn't done anything with the sedan. Today I tell him the motorcycle is probably worth more than that sedan. It would definitely take up less space in the shed. Dave
Years ago I traded a run down toyota pickup for a new hot tub. Got way more use and more fun out of the hot tub!
I traded painting the trim on a house for a 9 year old '60 Chevy wagon. Traded a Chrome 22 pistol for a '69 Sedan DeVille. Traded a '55 Olds that I bought for $75 and drove 12 years for my current '40 GMC. Traded one of my small carved stone sculptures for a Volvo 1800S sports car. Traded money for the rest. Only made payments on 4 cars, ever, and 3 of those were Wife's cars.
Buddy of mine traded an old heap of a Peugeot for a couple of packs of cigarettes. he bought the car for the equivalent of 500 bucks!!!! Guess it takes all kinds. . . . . .
In the late eighties, I brought 50 boxes of shot gun shells at an auction. Sold 30 for more than what I paid for all 50. The last 20 boxes I traded for a 69 ford pickup cab that was chopped. When I owned my laundromat from '83 to '85 I brought a pickup truck for $400.00 . Not unusual but I paid for it all in quarters. Also back in '83 to '85, I brought a schwinn bike for $10.00 at a rummage sale. traded it the next day for a early 70's chevy station wagon and sold the wagon the next day for $300.00

Never traded for a Car, but back in 2000 I traded a decent sized Engagement ring that I had no use for any more for a Tokheim Pump, an NOS 70-73 TA chin spoiler, a 72 Unitized Distributor, a 70-72 Bird Gas Tank, Some Rally II Center Caps, a 56 Pontiac 2 Door Bench Seat, Some Pontiac Stock Chrome Valve Covers, & a 73 TA Dash whith Non AC correct Gauge Panel, AM/FM Radio, and 8 Grand Tach/160 Speedo. Probably not what the ring was worth then, but now? Just had to get it gone as the New wife was tired of it being around.
I trade a six-pack Bud Light for a '67 Chevy C-10 pickup once. Ran and drove...didn't stop for ****, though! Stuck some brakes on it and turned it for a grand!
You had better results than me........In about 1991 I traded a 12 pack for a '66 Elcamino. When I went to pick it up, the kids Uncle wouldn't give me the ***le or the truck. The guy I made the deal with bought me a case to repay me for trouble.
