i got a 64 dodge 880 and want to put disc brakes up front. ssbc sells a kit for like a grand but thats ridiculous i need some thin cheaper. i heard that spindles from mid 70s dart would fit and just rob the caliper brackets and everythin but im not sure. anyone got any ideas?????
what ever you choose to do .. A Dodge 880 is different than anything else that year .. Its a c-body I believe , kind of a odd one year car .. I think you can swap spindles, etc off a late model Chrysler for that application ..those parts typically bring around $350.00 for all of it at a salvage yard, unless you can find one in a yard for less Go over to www.moparts.com ..ask the question in the Q and A section and someone will know for sure
Another donor I know of is M-bodies from 81-85 model years. Paid 55 dollars at salvage yard for the spindles, calipers, etc they bolt right up to a B-body not sure on the 880 though.
A common swap is early 80's volare and diplomat. If you go that route fatman has drop spindles so your not crankin down your torsion bars.another mod is utilizing an common s-10 swap you can usually pickup the whole spindle ***embly calipers, roters and all cheap . but then you have to ream the taper a little to fit the ball joint.
I had a 62 Dodge Custom 880 2 door hardtop. The disc brake setup I used was from a Dodge Aspen.........took everything, spindles, rotors, master cylinder, prop valve, booster......and it all bolted up fine. Big improvement in stopping power, too. Sold that car to a guy in Belgium.........damn
