anyone here built a simple lightweight car trailer?............................ no, not a covered trailer for your street rod and cry baby doll.............
1) The thing you use to bring your racecar back and forth to the racetrack. 2) The thing you use to bring your next divorce kit home.
What's with all the bullshit smartass comments? Maybe he wants to build a trailer for a vintage FED or circle track car...keep your mouths shut long enough to find out the intentions/purpose first...douchebags...
broken car? you mean you dont travel around with all the spare parts you might need in any eventuality? whats the world coming to!!? na, ive got a big ass flat bed tandem axel car trailer made with 10in x13in x 30ft aluminum I beams from a old shipyard and a old hand crank winch.
Single axle, unsprung, tilt bed. Got about a grand in materials, all labor was mine. Pulls like a dream behind my S-10.
Trailer, lets see. Here in Kansas I think they call that a piece of pipe with a chain running through it.
Having a really showey tow dolly is like having custom metalflake painted wrenches. Whats the point? I have an 87 3/4 ton Suburban and a 1999 Carson tandem axle trailer w/ a cheapo HF winch. None of which were expensive/are pretty/have let me down. Tools for bringin Mercs home.
A group of us each have one of these, all a little different. We need to move projects and race cars on them......14 ft.,electric brakes,3000 lb rubber sprung axle, tilt bed, very low, user friendly.DMV liked it, so its licensed.
Wow, I have been here twice, and both times I see all of these rude remarks. I just don't know if I want to come back. For some, I am certain you couldn't care.
46 international dump truck, 46 Chevy fleetline, 48 Willis pickup truck, and im making a car hauler from a 97 ford F-350 power stroke 4x4 with a hand made steel C cab. anything wrong with that?
Is it tech week yet??? I guess all of you smart asses buy cars that are drivable, or pay someone with a rollback to haul them home.. Here's one of mine, the one I use for rough stuff. 16 ft, with an 8k winch on the front. Also have a steel deck 18ft, and a 24ft for hauling multiples of junk... And, to the smart ass who was yelling at me in the parking lot at the hamb drags about trailered cars.. fuck you. How the hell else could you get a T body, an A body, willys clip across the country and bring my chevy to run at the drags... you put 60k miles on a car you've built and then we'll talk. Brian
I'll skip the drama, here's mine. I used it for my circle track car and now I use it to bring home cool Model A's. It's got a plug in the front to run an extension cord from a generator. Inside the box is a trouble light, flourescent lights in all the compartments and outlets near the back so you can plug in your portable lights, power tools and such. Ramps stow under the decking and there's storage between the runners in front of the axle. I kept big stuff like A arms and brake rotors in there. I've also got a nice hand winch for those rough days at the track as well.
I bought a car trailer a few months ago but have yet to use it. I,m trying to score a big electric winch to mount on it as I buy and sell vintage car parts on the side.It would be nice to back right up to a wheelless car and be able to just drag it onto the trailer. I get tired of paying for towtrucks...... http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=RatmotorMike
My dad built a pretty kick ass little 2 wheeles tilt bed trailer for my T for me.. Ill post pics tommoro. Its even got model A fenders on it, just using a 3500# Rubber Torsion Axle
