  4. It seems like I get plenty of this **** for display. I was going to build a lamp out of this but have never drilled the center for the cord. Don't ask how it happened >>>>.

Not as bad as some of the examples. Still managed to ruin 2 pistons, cylinder walls and break the cam into 3 pieces.

That looks like it took a little effort to do that, someone got busy with that.BTW that mopar oil leak detector is the ****.

  7. Really it was pretty simple. I built this cat about 560-HP 331 chev with all the goodies and I do mean ALL THE GOODIES!! He swaps engines from one car to another and steps up a cl***. Puts in a magneto and forgets to put the strap on the mag to lock it in place as it takes a stap along with the dist hold down. About 15 laps into the main while leading the race the mag starts losing timing, turns the headers red *** hot, pounds the **** out of the rod bearings and so forth. I'm at the same track racing in another cl*** so I see all this **** take place. So I advise these ****in retards to yank the engine and I'll give her the freshen up and check it over. So being the smart *** racers that they were they chose to avoid my advice and thinking I was just going to charge them for **** they didn't need they just ran it the next week and all hell broke loose. He said he thought it had good enough parts in it that it wouldn't break. Aftre all it was a CALLIES!! And how in the hell did you spot the leak detector?? >>>>.

I've posted this one before. Not my car. This came out of a Duesenberg Indy car going down the front straight of Laguna Seca at the Monterey Historics some years ago.

  10. This is the '59 Pontiac 389 that was in my 33 coupe.
The previous owner said he showed and raced the car from 1960-1967 until the motor "Blew", then he parked it.

  13. While certainly not that dramatic, the 301 Pontiac I blew up back in college I tore down - donated the heads to the engine shop for kids to learn valve jobs with, and popped the pan to see just what I did to it. I saved the two bad rods and the piston with the valve marks in it, bead blasted and clear-coated them. One of them is on the shelf here, but I've long since lost track of all the pieces. I'll have to take a picture of the ones I can find -

  14. I remember watching that one. There's video on YouTube somewhere. That thing took a serious ****!

No pics, but the guys who know sprint cars will feel this one. We were running a 360 non-wing sprint and split the back of the block coming off 4. Torque tube came out of the car, the motor zinged and started coming apart. The driver shut it off (remember that) when it started shaking real bad. Back home, we realized the dry sump pan had blown up like a balloon and knew it was gonna be interesting! Crank broke in 4 pieces, 4 broken rods and the back 2 pitons were nothing but dust. We FILLED a gallon pretzel jar with just what came out of the pan, and it was still running when it coasted to a stop. Luckily the cam and heads somehow survived to fight again. I've seen some bad ones (mostly Nitro induced), but that one was something else...

What's left of the rod, and the annihilated oil pan mounting surface.

Drove through a big puddle, cold air intake ****ed up water and it stalled out. Then he made the big mistake of trying to restart it. Boom!

This guy was having so much fun running his car on the expressway in Kyushu, Japan every day that he forgot to check his oil.

Makes me feel better to see all the other pictures. Was that LS1 Stock? I have a buddy running a blower on his GTO LS1 its still holding up, but he wants it to blow up so he can build a sick engine!

  20. One of Dave Thomssen's Ardun Flatheads from the Golden Rod 'liner. Crank came out in as many pieces as main bearings...3. Things happen fast at just south of 200mph.

No Ardun parts were hurt in the making of this mess.

    Well . . .

I blew up the 302 that was in my Model A . . . no pics. So I bought a rebuilt 302 and threw it in only to have a rod knock and 2 trashed bearings 40 miles later. Replaced the trashed bearings and cleaned things up only to have a rod knock 100 miles later. Tore it completely down and replaced the crank and bearings and less than 1000 miles I was in a head-on with the car. The motor mounts ripped out of the side of the block on both sides . . . so yeah . . . it "blew."
