Well over the past few months i kept running into the car for sale locally and i kind of want to buy it. I know its a 4 door but who cares. Ive got the murray im trying to finish, my T sedan that is just sitting in the corner of the barn, and the 40 chevy scattered about 2 barns. So do i really need this other car? Cheap as hell, runs, brakes were re done, but no title. Do i buy now and save it for the winter when im going stir crazy or let it go and most likely buy it later on if the guy doesnt scrap it? I can see this thing on skinny whites and supremes. Maybe bag it? What do you guys think?
I like it. If you've got the money and the space, you can always buy it and tuck it away for later. I have years worth of projects laying around, don't know if I'll get to them all but they're "safe" here at least. What's the price on it? If it's under a grand I'd say go for it. It's a hardtop so it has the hardtop frame under it, I'd try to find a bubbletop parts car with a good roof and doors and graft it in, shouldn't be that hard. This is a '61, correct?
Save your money man. thats my biggest problem I do the same thing get 4 projects going and never have a solid driver.
One car at a time works best. With more then one or two cars nothing gets done at times. ....I know a guy that 60 years old with 22 cars and only two are drivers. He's always crying how poor he is, well DA, sell some of those cars and fix the good one's for the road. CRUISER ,
Scrap is low now, and people are still saying "this will bring $600 in scrap!". Yeah. Right. Call him on it and offer scrap price if he's threatening. Which, would be around $250 or so.
"One car at a time works best. With more then one or two cars nothing gets done at times. ...." Pass. Based on my experience, it will just be another distraction and money pit. If you need a driver, buy a cheap late model, not a 40+ year old car. My best buddy bought a '58 Mercury Parklane 2 dr hardtop that he was going to use as a driver because he always wanted one. It was complete, ran and was supposed to be a quick fix and drive. It was cheap ($2K) with an Arizona body. Well, 4 years, 100s of hours, a new 430 motor and $4K++ in parts it's still not a driver in his garage. The project has completely stalled his '48 Ford full kustom coupe in it's tracks. No money or time to work on the "real" project.
Pass...I agree with the others...better to not get distracted (just because I am doesn't mean you have to be) and to concentrate on finishing what you have...if it's the deal of a lifetime that's one thing but there will be others to come along
Well i guess ill see if its really worth it once i go see it. Drive by it every once in a while but its too far from the road. The car was from NY so thats why it doesnt have a title, only registration and a bill of sale from the owner. Ill let him take it to englishtown, if he comes back with it, i may just snatch it up then.
