LOOKS GOOD! it just makes you wonder when they pulled pieces off to go racing where all the garnish, grill, dash, inner fenders, etc... went or are?! -- maybe still laying behind or in an old garage somewhere. track it down.
Or is he thinking "Damn hot rodders" Ha . I remember when I moved to my new house 5 years ago and we moved all the stuff in the house in one day and it took weeks to move the shop my dad was telling my mom this kid has to much stuff I guess he cant see what he has.The sickness is in our blood i guess.
Chris it looks like you and this guy are going to have to do some racing. Hey......maybe he'll even sell his doors to ya!
Thanks everyone for the coments. There were no doors with it, finding a set is tops on my priority list! The car came from Easteren Oregon. The guy I got it from said his Dad raced against this car in the mid 50's. My car got hit in the p*** front wheel, bending the axle, and it was retired. His Dad bought the car for parts and it has been sitting ever since, getting stripped to what you see here. My plans are pretty simple. It will be a highboy, and will get chopped. It will be a nice, done car, not a "patina" car like everything else I have The grey one in the photo above is one of my favorites, and is great insperation!
Never! I keep saying I have all the cars I need...then **** like this happens. The cars find ME! And I can never turn down an early Ford
chris, that's awesome. looks like it's the new hamb trend (see my post on my new project). and mike, 'barn find t,' has got a nice one too. east, mid, and west, all on a model 40 quest. it's almost poetic.
Very cool, I saw that car on e-bay, what was it last week?Well in definatly has some history even if it's unknown.keeping that old stock car look would be great!
I seem to remember reading an article in the past couple of years about the clone of an old drag coupe. 7/11 sounds very familiar. I think it was in Rod & Custom or Street Rodder. The original owner tried to locate his original car but had no luck. And started with another body instead. It might be a different car though, the paint scheme doesn't look familiar. Dave Just did a search, probably not the same one. Rod & Custom Sept '05.
Chris - I must be getting too old, because I didn't get that last bid down in time and you sniped me - had it with 30 seconds to go - oh well, such is life. That is a good project, and good for you for getting what you have been looking for. If you can't find coupe doors (they are rare), I can show you how to mount four door sedan doors. Takes a little work, but you can have them opening and shutting in less than a day. Helped a buddy recently with that exact task, and it turned out well. Good luck with the project, and if you ever want to make money on this deal, shoot me a pm. Steve "ryson6"
Chris, that looks like a really cool project, congrats. Bruce P.S I would love to pick up those hub caps from you at monroe
K, I'll pick em up this week. Maybe I could convince you to give my Dad a tour of your place after the meet PLUS, I'll bet my brother still needs to get that drum back to you
I typed my top bid in with 30 seconds to go, and was actually REALLY surprised that no one jumped in after that. I thought I got into the car pretty decent, and was surprised it did not go for more. I do have a line on some sedan doors, so that info could really help me.
Yeah, I never buy much there anymore, everything seems to go through the roof. But every once in a while you can get what you want.
here's your new floor. stuffed into the junk corner of the shop. After this weekend let's figure out getting it to you. eriC
