Penguin goes to a mechanic with car trouble. Mechanic says, "It'll be about an hour, you can kill some time at the ice cream parlor across the street. An hour later, the penguin comes back, mechanic says,
"Looks like you blew a seal." Penguin says, "No, that's vanilla ice cream."

The attached picture shows part of the display that the Utah Salt Flats Racing ***ociation had in a car show, made up of parts from engines that blew up at Bonneville. The sign says "Offerings to the God of Speed".

man.. all I've ever done is spun a bearing while trying to start the car. cranked over like 2 times and stopped.

it was a rare option on 70 Camaros to have both halves of the bearing on the same side of the journal.

 

Bonneville has always been a great place to photograph "blown-up" engines!

Here's what happens to a Leyland P76 engine when it gets a bit too many revs and too little oil, when being used to power an autocross car, and hurled over many jumps:


(This engine was a redesign of the Rover V8, but enlarged to 4.4 litres with a longer 3.5" stroke - the Rover engine itself was originally the Buick 215)

And here's what you get if your 2 stroke roadbike isn't getting enough oil with its fuel - seized while doing 140km/h on the freeway, and left a very long skidmark!

 

Didn't really blow an engine, but my brother blew a fuel line...
