Like the ***le says, I got the post ike blues, but I gotta get outta here. I live 2 blocks from the Gulf of Mexico and 15 miles north of Galveston. and folks I wanna tell yall, it has been a mortal hell. I didnt sustain any structural damage and my kids are safe, i did manage to lose a couple 40 year old oak trees, but i have spent the last 3 days, helping my neighbors clean up their yards from the debris and tree limbs. I've been living with a wife and 2 kids in my master bedroom with a generator, a tv, and a refridgerator that works, for the past 5 days. now with all that said, does anyone have a clue as to what might be going on such as car show events, or anything hot rod related. this weekend that would be a full day or less drive from houston, tx? i ***ure you it wouldnt take me that much to load my fat*** up and head that way. I appreciate any suggestions yall may have.
Be ***ured that you have a lot of folks pulling for you and your neighbors. My prayers go out to the gulf coast and those affected by Ike.
I played that not so fun game back in 1992 from Andrew here in Miami,it took a month and 7 days to get my power back and 2 months for the phone to work, didn't have cells, and things were not norm for about a year, but now they know more about how to get stuff running faster. Do as your thinking and have some fun to brake it up.
The Kustom Kings/Watsons drive in show is this weekend in Dennison, Tx. Saturday from 10-3:00. About 4-5 hours from Houston.
Yep, this ****s, I've been sleeping on the floor at the office because of no power. Could be worse, I still have a house. As far as this weekend, Burnout was postponed.
Hey let me know if you guys go I need to get out of here also. I was thinking of going to the cruise in spring if they have it
Swapmeet out at Baytown Dragstrip on the 28th. I know what you mean, still without power in Deerpark. Earliest they have said is next week. UPS did make it through with a couple of parts shipments I was waiting for. Got cable back up and working yesterday and have a generator running. Looks like it will be a few weeks before I can work on the car again what with all the fencing that needs replacing. I was back at work on Monday, at least there have power and internet and they are feeding us. Have insurance accesor at the house at the moment so thats good news.
We'll probably go to the Spring event instead. No power and there's no way I can leave the wife and kiddos at home without it.
