Are they doing a full rebuild? Or is it just the tumor? Might wanna make sure they check out the gaskets and what not, better safe than sorry.

Good luck man, kick some non-cancerous ass!

5 CM, that's almost 2" !!!! Did anyone mention "gamma knife", or any other external beam radiation to shrink the tumor first before operating? I would imagine they've had you on steroids for the same purpose. I'm no Dr. by any means, but I've been in X-Ray for most of my 36 year medical career. I've seen an awful lot of this sort of thing, and what can be done still amazes me. The best thing going for you is your age. Attitude and determination follow closely. I would'nt think any plates will get used, but some mesh like "buttons" and tiny screws will be to secure the skull flap in position. I have an erector set of sorts in my lower back; 2 10" titanium rods, 10 pedicle interlocking screws, plus 2 cross support bars; and, an anticompression plate with 4 screws in my neck. You will do and be fine. I say it's a benign tumor. Good luck with your procedure.

You have a great attitude and that's probably the most important thing going into a health situation.

  13. Good luck, and be sure to tell them no fancy billet on the skull plate -

I'm not sure that I'd have such a even tempered reation to this as you have. I'm sure your family is a rock for you to lean on.

I hope the best to you & that your recovery is swift & sucessfull.
