Vince at Fearless Gear in Fresno does awesome work, he straightened the bells and assembled everything for us to mount. Blast Tech powder coated everything and it looks great.

Thanks for the great photo...you can see how Fred ran a 6 inch magnesium wheel with those 11.50x15 slicks, an odd combination but he said it sure hooked up. Can anyone ID those small front tires? The photo I believe was taken in late 65 to early 1966 when he ran a small block Chevy. He later that year installed the Hemi.

    Mark,
It's tough to tell from that photo but my guess would be that the tires are Pirelli's. The popular size was 4.00/4.25-15 as shown here:

Skip, I only just found this thread (damn I'm slow), what an awesome project!!. This stuff is something you just can't get enough of, and it's a credit to you all.
I don't suppose you will have it at the CHRR, as I will be there, and I would love to see it in the flesh, and also meet you.
    Ross.

You know god's gotta love old gassers 'cause this save was a gift from above. How could someone even consider messing w/such beauty??? They should be hung from the nearset stop light.Glad to see another moment of history being brought back to life for all to enjoy.

  12. Royalshifter ... We ran Blue Streaks (albeit not slicks) on the coupe in the late 60's:

I remember using a blue "crayon" to detail the tires ... it was kinda like a lumber or welding crayon ... but I believe it was made specifically for Blue Streaks (I vaguely remember it saying "GOODYEAR" on the wrapper).

I may still have some of them ... though I have no idea where they might be ... I'll have a look around the shop.

Don't know if it's the correct shade of blue ... but these "Tire Paint Pens" might work (just click HERE) ... you might even try a blue grease pencil.

PS: Rustler ... I've had no luck finding any pics of Fred's Willys in my father's photo/negative/slide archive ... but I haven't given up ... I'll keep looking!

Candy Brandy Wine is the original color of the car when it was built in 1964.

OMG Skip, that color is awesome! I'm sure pics don't do that color justice, I can't wait to see the body painted. One thing is for sure, the Willy's body is perfect for a candy paint job.

    Very Nice indeed!
