Customs carson tops and continental kits

    So im going to build myself a carson top now ive done the research ive seen the stuff on riksters site and the rod and custom site and few other but what i havent figured out was how the top is actully attached to the car so who has built em around her and any ideas

    also i need some info with continental kits as well whats my options do they all need the extended rear bumber how could i maybe french one in the trunk and anyone have pictures

    basicly want info and pictures

    There are so many ways to fasten a Carson top to your car. One that works good is to use safety belt latches on the sides right after the windows. On the front header a similar thing can be used, look around for something small in a latch. A tab welded on each side of the header with a threaded bung in the top works, look for some at your hardware store, boat supply etc. for some knobs with a treated bolt. There are more ways to skin a cat, follow HAMBERS will give additional ideas soon..........

  3. My chopped 40 Merc had the wooden stock header and the stock latches in front and bolted with tabs behind the door and two tabs in back. Latches would be better for sure than the bolts, but that is what I had in 1956. My buddy bought the car from Bill Hines and I acquired years later.
