Just bought a set of wheel vintique smoothie wheels. Can't decide what color to powder coat the wheels. I have gone through numerous pics and all of the blue rides have red wheels. Don't think that would work. Thinking white with black walls or black with wide whites. The paint is old and flat. Help a brother out. Photoshop would be cool.

I have found as a general rule you can't go wrong with black, white or cream. If it was mine? I would match the top color, in your case white. Just my .02 worth

Its hard to picture what would look best. I like the Ds on there but ready for a change. Probably will do white with black walls. Found someone local who will buff the whitewalls cheap though. Thanks guys!

No Wide whites! You can't make that car go backwards from its date of manufacture and not look wrong. I think dark blue wheels with a max. 1 1/2" whitewall would look good. vic

  6. To me that car looks perfect with the 5 spokes but here is a pic of a similar color with darker met' blue wheels and and narrow whitewalls with baby moons and trim rings.

  7. Yup, same color as the top.
Body color would be too much blue, and any other color would only be a distraction.

I wouldnt get rid of the 5 spokes, they look good! have two sets, and I think you have it figured out either white wheels black walls or black wheels white walls.

Narra white's w/ the top colored wheel's. Keep the 5 spoke's and put Redline's on 'em.

Thanks guys for all the help! I'm keeping the 5spokes for sure. Just wanting a change but not a different ride. It has a 400 horse 383 and ford 9inch. Blast to drive. The ww s will be 2 inch if I go that route. Found a place that buffs them cheap. May be painting the wheels a couple times. Too late fleetside I'm already crying.:D

This is what it looked like when I brought it home from the original owner. Yep little ol lady.

I would leave it alone and bring up the back a little.

I've been trying to make similar decisions on my car. I will be switching over to 5 lug soon, so I'll need to do something about rims. This is how it looks now:

What are the advantages of powdercoat over paint? I've seen prices of $40-$65 per wheel. I was thinking of buying paint that matches my interior (black, just painted this spring) and painting them myself.

I was thinking smooties with push through bullet caps and trim rings for mine. I was wondering what do do about the lug nuts ahd if I should run narrow whites or not.

    I vote 5 spokes too.

  26. I think it would look good with dark blue wheels, white would wash it out, black is harsh with the tires. Also I agree that wide whites are a look for older cars.

Well i went with the color of the car. It is definetly the look I was going for. These caps are not flat and alittle smaller than all of the police caps I've seen. I'll hold on to the TTDs to change it up.
