$75 a ton for scrap may slow the carnage for awhile. what a drop from $200 last month! . hope all the guys that do "recycling" for a living put some dough away for a rainy day. but if the ecomomy keeps falling apart like it is we all might be ....
I noticed that at the local bone yard yesterday. It's a two edged sword I guess, I don't like seeing some of the stuff go away forever but, I also need to take in a couple of used up donors and a bunch of scrap I picked up cleaning up around the shop. I usually use the scrap money to buy more parts. As usual, I'm screwed either way.
Amen Brother, Amen I lost a bunch of good stuff to crackheads about a month ago. Sombitches, lay around all day so they know when you're there and when you're not, them they slither in and take all they can load. They're like snakes, all you can do is chop their heads off when you catch them.
Thank goodness!! All I scrap is brake rotors from work and the lines have bee insane recently. Waiting 35-40 minutes makes it hardly worth doing for the casual scrapper. Everything in MN, except for aluminum cans, requires a valid ID. Too many thefts of public and private property. See above ^^^^^^^^!!!
Some dumbasses down here stold a truck load of brass flower pots off graves. I think the cops found them in a ditch beside the road in another county a coulpe of weeks later. I don't remember if they got the SOB's. Stealing off graves is about as low as a thief can stoop.
sure would be nice if somebody caught those tweakers stealing some brass anything off some graves and put those assholes in those graves.
It would be nice if we could catch all the pilferers and hang'em high. The source of the problem is the high demand for medals in China and India, it's their growing economies that are to blame for the high price of medals. I'm not bashing this two country's, it's just the facts. CRUISER
There was a guy caught here in New Zealand who was chopping up Railway lines. Not old ones either. These were still in use occasionally. Got caught when they fell off his overloaded trailer. .
As of 9-19-08,it was still at $160 for sheet iron and $190 for car bodys at enterprise iron and metal in gr. but this is about the time of year that it drops for the winter
