Looks like the original builder took some design elements from the TE440 & K88 Ch***is Engineering cars of the late 50's. Great to see it back on the track, but I hope you checked the tubing for internal rust. So many of the old cars that have sat around to 30+ years have hidden corrosion that can cause real problems at speed.
No wheelie bar with the banger, wheelie bar with the 283...heck yes, only after I tried to flop it over backwards (Stoooopid!). The dude that built the car in 1959, Harry Hurst (really, that's his name) did have the K-88 in mind. It ran 145 mph with a blown six carb 322 Buick. I've never had it on the 1/4 since the rebuild. Our local track is 1/8th. We have run a best of 7.55 at 90 mph. We replaced all suspect tube and keep a close eye on it. It's a BLAST!
