this my truck i am deciding which way to go with it. Mild custom or mild hot rod? Opinions wanted. i have added 2 examples of what iam thinking. the one with the flames is mildly customized, and the Pepe is mild hot rod.
I gotta say, I'm with Bad Bob on this one. After all, he defintely has excellent taste in customs! I think that truck would make a cool hot rod.
Those old trucks are just so hard to find in good shape. I'd love to have one as a daily driver. Sick of seeing them made into "Rudy wannabes".
I agree with Bob, I have seen some that really do suck. However, I think it might make one heck of a custom if you kept it understated and super traditional. I doubt that Harry Westergard did any pickups, but the body does have a sort of art deco look to it. It'll take someone with a much better eye than me to pull it off, but I can almost see it. Clean lookin truck!
I think I'd leave the outside of it the way it is. Update the brakes, suspension and drivetrain and use it as a driver. Nice truck.
Unless it's absolutely necessary, I wouldn't change out the driveline. Looks like some old dude took real good care of that one.
i agree, but that is why it is in the classifieds section til next Sunday... i am not a grandpa, yet also,i like to drive on the hiway so 55-60 mph is not good on todays hiways...
For some reason, when I look that truck, I see Ryans '38. It looks pretty stock on the outside. It has the perfect stance, the perfect wheel and tire como, and a bad ass drive train. Man, if I had that truck I would totally use his car for inspiration. Besides, it's already the right color.
Gotcha! Mty dad has a '29 RPU with a mildly hopped up 4 banger. He swapped the rear end for a "high speed" rear end. It scoots down the road at 80-85 now and will still snap your neck off the line.
Well, if you need to change it, I agree hot rod. My 02$. Every year stock is getting rarer (is that a word?) I think it rockin' as is yes a little pookie. If I had it I wouldn't change it, but then again I have a couple I'm juggling. If you had the cash, why not build something new to squash that bug. Like I said my .02$ and that's not worth much. Let me know if your scrapping the drive train, maybe we can work something out
hot rod...my '56 looks like that only lowered all around, and has a thumpin' motor. It gets thumbs-up wherever I go 'cause it looks kinda stock, but sounds bitchin'... ...and if you customize it, I will kill you...
If you lower it and put big & Little tires on it it's a hotrod. If you lower it and put the same size tires front & rear it's a custom. Truth.
